Hey there! I'd like to know if anyone has any recommendations for netbooks - something cheap but fairly powerful that I could maybe run a copy of photoshop on for basic photo editing.
I'd like one to take to Uni so that I can edit photos and touch up art on the fly, instead of having to rely on my desktop 24/7 =)
Most important I guess is that it's small - something I can slip in a bag ^^

Any other processor will be better than that one. But then again I'm not sure if there are any other in "netbooks".
maybe you should look more about a subnotebook, like a Toshiba Satellite T130, Thinkpad Edge or Packard Bell Butterfly.
while they arent as powerful as fullsized laptop, they should be enough for image editing, and some model have up to 4Gb ram which should be plenty enough, and their prices are only a bit more than netbooks, they are a bit bigger though.
one very important point point is, reflective display are a pain in the ass when using them outdoor, so if you intend to use it that way you should look for a model with mate (anti-glare) display.
Keep in mind these things are called Netbooks, so they were intended mainly to surf the web, not a game or photoshop :P
I know that for their price, generally hovering right around the $1,000 (cheap for a laptop), ASUS laptops are VERY powerful machines...
Anyway, for picture editing you're going to want a middle-speed CPU and plenty of RAM. A half-decent graphics card/chip's not a bad idea too.
Avoid Intel GMA graphics chips, if you can find a UMPC (slightly bigger than a netbook) powered by an AMD processor you'll be doing well.
