$ 200 keyboard ?
Would it be silly to spend $ 200 USD for a keyboard ( logitech g19 ) ? I've been wanting to get it since last year . It has this really cool gimmicky things like an colored LCD screen , backlit keys etc . Any other g19 users think it's worth it ?
nah i don't think is worth it
Sure, it is impressive and all, but in the end my main use of the display is showing which track winamp is playing.
Then the programmable buttons. Sure, they're nice, but I personally never had much use to it.
In the end I ended up with programming them with random chat messages for my Guild Wars sessions to entertain my fellow guildmates. *laughs*
So, seriously. The features have nice intention and surely look neat, but before you spend 200 dollars on it, think about it: What would you really need the display for? Would you really NEED programmable buttons? And then, do you really need a colour display, or is maybe the G15 enough for your needs?
That's my personal opinion, nya, maybe it helps you a bit.

My dad has a Saitek Eclipse keyboard with multicolored backlighting and a dimmer, and he loves it. I do to, as the key feel is really good for touch typing. If you have the desk space, take a look at the Saitek Cyborg, which has a bunch of extra keys for gaming. Chances are, those keys can be configured for things like Photoshop hotkeys and such.
As for the Logitech, the feel of the said keyboard is a bit too stiff to my taste, but that's really just me. Do try it before you buy it, if you get a chance.

:D
TL;DR- it is great, reliable, useful, and cleans easily
That's something I like to hear :) . Does the keyboard gets too hot overtime ? How long did you have it now ?

If you still live in [redacted place in asia or the pacific], then you should be able to get a keyboard which uses Cherry Red switches for its keys, which are a kind of buckling spring switch that last a pretty darn long time. Or, even better, a keyboard by Topre -- those things are built to last forever and go easy on your fingers (35g model switches anyway).
What particular brand are those cherry red switches you mentioned ? The $ 200+ Topre looks sort of bland for it's price .
Other brands which utilize cherry mx switches:
Filco ( www.elitekeyboards.com ) <-- nondescript but with a variety of choices. Most boards have n-key rollover. The website I provided is a distributor; since most of these keyboards come from Japan you might have better luck from a store that sells japanese products to your country..... This store also sells Topre
Das Keyboard ( www.daskeyboard.com ) <-- nice looking board, with several fixes, but be aware that it probably doesn't have n-key rollover, which is nice for games
Deck ( www.deckkeyboards.com) <-- super ricey with LED's
Here is a nice guide to mechanical keyswitches: http://www.overclock.net/computer-p.....ard-guide.html
I so want one.
