Maple Story scares off their fan base?
Oh hey I'm talking about games again. What a surprise. Free rant and, hey, a begin and end rant sign for those of you who wish to skip it. Though the rant is of course about the title, and will be rather large.
-Begin Rant-
So this time it's mostly Maple Story. Those of you who play this game should know that just yesterday (as it's currently Tuesday now) they have opened up their testing servers to a select number of people who have been playing recently. Well, apparently I was one of those people, so I decided to jump on the chance to try testing out stuff they would be releasing.
So, after installing the client for Tespia (as the test server is called) I hopped into the game, getting the expected message saying "hey this is a test server, report bugs and whatnot" and went through that. Then I received an event quest which I could tell was of course new, so I followed along the quest path with the new NPCs that were there to go with it. At first, no problems I could see at first, everything running smoothly as I proceed through the quests. A small storyline that gets you interested (slightly), yada yada yada.
Continuing onward I catch a hint of a class that's been only rumors so far (called the Mechanic, which is supposedly supposed to ride in Mech suits) in the next part of the quest. Of course I get excited and am urged to continue on to get a taste of what riding in a mech would be like... I'm hoping they reaaaaally change it up 'cause this suit for this quest is so slow and clunky you feel like you just want to climb out and fight without it.
Anyway, proceeding through the quest, I'm apparently supposed to protect this guy from monsters so he can get through to the next area. Problem is the monsters that spawn don't seem to die, and they home in on the guy I'm to be protecting. Oh and, like a genius, instead of running he stays and tries to fight, wasting time and killing himself thus making me retry the quest several times.
And now here's the funny part. After... oh, three or four failed tries, I get a message popping up in-game from a GM, saying I've been blocked from the server for "Hacking".
What. The. Hell.
Now, I've never hacked an MMO in my entire life. I may have abused some exploits one or two times but never hacking. So I figure it's just a bug since I wasn't hacking (hell I didn't even touch the folder for the installed test client) and try to log back in. Ha. About 6-8 attempts later I give up, as each time I select a channel to enter the game auto-closes, saying something about problems logging in and to try again later. "Try again later?" Wow, so they ban me from the test server for no reason, and don't even give me a message saying it besides that ONE in-game?
I've been saying for a while now that Nexon (the company who has been running Maple Story) doesn't care about their players anymore and just see them as potential suckers to give them money, and recently they've been doing stuff to try and act like they do still care, but really? They've put their users through so much crap and still choose to put them through more crap. It's getting to the point that I'm losing so much interest in Maple Story, even with all the huge changes they're making to make the game easier and whatnot. Though these changes are still in Korea Maple Story and haven't come to the Global version yet.
So yeah, looks like there goes my chance to look at upcoming stuff. Frickin' jerks.
-End of rant-
Anyway, besides that I've been addicted to playing Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time. The game is actually incredibly awesome even when by yourself. Though the AI could certainly use some work since when it comes to boss fights I'm practically doing all the work and I have three AI characters just repeatedly casting Cure on me. Though I'm happy to say all the classes seem to be rather balanced, meaning no one class is better than all the rest.
There's of course the expected lag when going online that comes with all games that go online. Thankfully when it comes to when you're in dungeons that lag seems to become unnoticeable and won't mess with gameplay. Though if the lag is supposed to be bad due to bad connection you might see your friends or whoever you're playing with (since there's a play with anyone mode) jump around the screen every now and then.
So yeah that's pretty much it. Thanks to anyone who still actually reads these things, and sorry I've always got crap to say. x3
PS: I've also been playing a little bit in a private server for Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst for PC. Forgot how broken it is to play a non-range class in the older ones... Luckily after a little while Hunters can use handguns to take off the pressure until they get better weapons... like Slicers. <3

OP
Pff, it's a test server, which actually just closed... about 13 hours ago from when I'm posting this. It was incredibly short lived. But yeah I did send a complaint, which, got no response. Surprise surprise, Nexon doesn't care. It doesn't affect my actual account, but it's annoying that within half an hour I was kicked from seeing the new stuff they'd be adding, without even being able to check all of it. So, I'm expecting a crapload of bugs when they release the patch.

oh probably. I mean if the people testing it got banned... what would the world come too? o.o
