Vaperfox was never meant to be an animal

General
Vaperfox was never meant to be an animal.
I should clarify. Vaperfox is a blue aquatic fox which is a symbolic amalgamation of many things I love. The animal personification is integral to who I am as well as the natural state of Vaperfox. The animal is the vehicle for the Vaperfox fursona to function, serving as a vessel of expression for various modes of thought.
Vaperfox is playful. Vaperfox is fun. Vaperfox is lovable.
But Vaperfox is not just a series of traits designed to function as a labeling system for my personality. The fluid nature of this vessel is meant to take me places, intellectually, that I might not otherwise go if it were only a human alter-ego. That would've limited me to traditional mindsets about what a human should or should not be, as if a certain set of criteria were ever enough to corral the timeless human spirit into a small box meant for identification. That which can be identified can be stored. That which can be stored can be moved. That which can be moved can be removed from sight.
Vaperfox is not removable.
So why a fox? Why not Vaperbot? Vaperangel? Vaperjet?
The animal is necessary.
The animal is necessary because it is what Vaperfox starts as, but not what he becomes. The animal is the core of the being, representative of instincts, inherent traits and a static starting point. But instincts are faulty and lead towards survival, not life. Traits tell you only where you've been and not where you're going. A starting point is only a start insomuch as an end exists.
To what end is Vaperfox?
The end is only a beginning in disguise. To take the animal and make it so much more requires something fierce, different, radical beyond nature. The human mind should not be an end, but a beginning as a starting point for discovery of the alternate layers which rest around our world. A human mind is not enough, so I add the animal to go one way and other additions to cross into succeeding territories.
You cannot be static is you want to live.
Move.
