If you move into a dorm, can you be certain of getting a private room. If not, you could be trading one problem roommate for another. I've had my share of excellent roommates, as well as a few that were truly horrible. Don't be too quick to pre-judge all otters based on the few you've met. I'm sure that some of them are wonderful people. I tend to have the worst experiences with bunnies, but I run into a fair number of exceptions to that as well. My big problem is with roommates who refuse to live in the real world. I'm talking about those who are overly addicted to video games and role-playing games, to the point where they are neglecting their real-life responsibilities.

There are people who think they can live for free, and don't need a job, as long as they can have constant access to their X-Box or even the internet. They make daily messes and would never think of cleaning up after themselves. They think rent and utilities pay for themselves. They wouldn't think for a moment that they should be looking for a job. Then there's the irresponsible continuous partying and sex with whoever is willing at the time. These bad qualities seem to cross all boundaries species, gender, orientation, race, etc. There are bad ones and good ones in every groups.

Hopefully, things will improve for you. It might take a fair amount of patience though.

the rooms aren't Private at shannon hall, there 2 to a room. even if i end up with another dip shit for a room mate, they can't be as bad as this otter. I talk about how ridiculous he is on here, but rest assured he's up there on the "don't even bother with" list.

dealing with his BS isn't just annoying and can be shrugged off, trust me i tried. When you payed for most of the place, and because of his slobness and amount of stuff he had moving in, I have less then half of the place i can access (he also imposed a "if its mine don't touch it" policy, after i confronted him about making the place look like shit) so dispite the fact i payed most of the money into the place im confined to my room. and i can't cook food or use plates or dishes I can't boil water for my tea >_< and he also took the air mattress I was using to sleep on (my bear went out and bought me a air mattress) I came with clothes and comp some photoshop books, and not much else. I had to borrow a towel from a friend so i could bath. NO! fuck this bastard, he's way to much (hell he even fucked up my AC for me which ment to much to me, which is another story in itself)

dorms are 2 bed rooms with 2 ppl, so i could end up with 3 shit hole room mates, HOWEVER its knot a apartment ive paid 80% of so ill take my chances, they do try to dorm you according to likes and such. ill just say in big print "I'M GAY AND DON'T GET ALONG WITH PEOPLE WHO ARE AGAINST GAYS" or maybe ill just say im a flamming FAG and see how that works XD

knot to mention that between skool, dealing with this shit, and working to pay for this shit, I can't push anymore, im literally doing everything i can, except work full time cause that would KO my schooling.

he gets paid more then twice what i get paid, and havn't paid shit towards his half of the security deposit, and expected that i would just pay for it all with my stipend checks (unused college loan money). I havn't paid my half yet because I been waiting for that check since I dont have enough between rent, expenses and payments on that.

hell this guy, after all his needed expenses has over 400 left over a month, and check this, he still ends up broke, having bought seemingly nothing AT ALL extra, i sure as he know he's knot paying anyone back.

hell hell, he didn't even pay the eletricity (its in his name) so I gave him my half and it didnt even go for that bill, instead it became "oh yayy food money" @_@

trust me, FUCKING TRUST ME, there can be no end to this if i wanted to sit down and spend all my time typing.

like I work 3rd shifts 4 days a week, went 2.5months on ramen so i could be sure to make rent. and as a result of having to work 3rd shifts, having to be up early for school, and days like friday where I have skool then work, I havn't had a stable sleep pattern since before i started school, and knot being able to sleep because everyday feels like the wrong time to sleep is taxng a lot in it self. >_<

Well, I get what you're saying. I doubt it will be much of a problem with rommies in a dorm. Especially if they try to much by likes/dislikes/etc. (ours didn't do that). I've only had good luck with the [ONE] rommie I have had in a dorm. So, if you can get out of the lease deal with a reasonable end, it might be a good idea.

Or, this is just a thought, you could always try to point out to the landlord/leasing manger that the problem is HIM and not you. Bring it to the attention of the person you are paying, and see what they think about it. They may help you out, they may not. It depends. But it certainly would be worth a shot, I say.

Definitely a bad thing. I've lived with people who did that to me before. They made three to four times that I did, and never paid any of their bills, yet they were always broke. The partied a lot, ate out most of the times, and had their huge growing piles of expensive XBox and PS2 games. Their priorities were always messed up. For them, it was fun first, bills and rent last.

You need to get out of the situation as fast as possible, even if you can't get into a dorm. Even if you have to take another apartment alone, since you are probably paying for most of this one anyway. At least you'd be able to keep it clean and use it.

You've just learned a sad lesson about people. Never ever move in with someone if they've told you that they've been late on paying bills. If someone appears to live like a slob before you move in with them, it will almost certainly be worse after.

One tick I've found that helps with the money is to always have all the bills in your own name, so you will know that they are being paid. Always collect rent and bill money from roommates on the date that their paycheck comes in. Never wait for a few days to pass, as that gives them time to burn through it. If they get paid once a week, or twice a month, collect the money exactly that often, and be sure to get it before they have time to spend it on themselves. I own a house, and rent out to furries. That is the only method I've discovered that results in me getting my money. If someone fails to pay, when I know that they actually have it, then I'd be seriously considering kicking them out. I know that you can't do that in this case.

Like said above, by FoxWolfie, make sure, if this is the problem, you can get a private room in the dorm. Or room with someone you KNOW isn't a problem. Otherwise it would be 'out of the frying pan and into the fire', y'know?

You may just want to have that "come to God" talk with the asshole in question, if you have even the smallest inkling that it would not fall on deaf ears (or that he won't have some kind of horrible, long-lasting conniption fit over it...). Tell him to shape up and all that business so long as y'all have to room together.

To be honest, I've seen assholes of every species. I've also noticed that furries in general don't seem to take responsibility for their own actions. Some are great, but a much higher percentage are bad news, when it comes to living with them. I did live with a wolf though that nearly ruined my life. I'm friends with other wolves that are not so bad though.

I'm a raccoon, but I know a couple of other raccoons I would never want to live with. All I ever hear of them is that they refuse to pay their bills and they go through booze like it's candy.

Most furries are probably incapable of living by themselves, as they simply can't handle the responsibilities that come with it. They don't last long when the don't pay rent and utilities, or when they run out of food money a week prior to every paycheck. Those sorts of furries find others to live with who are more capable of taking care of them than they are! They leach off of them until someone gets tired of it, then they move one to their next victim. You can often spot them on here begging for money from perfect strangers on a regular basis.

For anything who hasn't figured it out, never get sucked into rooming with anyone if you've seen them begging for money on FA. Imagine, if they beg here, what they must put their roommates though!

Never room with anyone would can't seem to live without role play or gaming. I'm not talking about everyone who plays games. I'm talking about those who have nothing else in their lives but gaming. They are experts at closing off the real world, the wold where bills are paid, where messes are cleaned up, where work is done, etc.

Never ever room with someone who has ever bagged about stealing. They will almost certainly do the same to you when they feel the need.

Never room with someone who spends most of their time showing disrespect for others. They will surely do the same to you, the moment something isn't going their way.

It doesn't matter what the species is. There are both good and bad people among all groups.

On a quick side note, he has asked me on several occasions for money beyond the the lump sum he owes me. this the same smuck who nearly flipped on me for asking for 1$ for Ramen, really now, i measly dollar when i helped him out a lot more then that, and it was to tie me over till my first paycheck.

He's been keeping it clean around here since I snapped on him XD (and by snap i was actually going light on him) and he's been staying out of my face and the apartment as much as possible, probably thinks that if he gives me time to cool down, I won't leave.

Im taking some time to write up a list of his 'kudos violations" then write up some kind of agreement incase I can't get out cost free, then take the fact that im planning on leaving with that list to the land lord and try to leave paying nothing. If that fails propose the deal. I been told by a few people to "run like a thief in the night" however, if taken to a small claims court, i will certianly have a much higher chance of losing then if I propose a deal, and out of greed he declines a rather reasonable offer (i have a rough draft in my head) in that case my intention come to resolve will be much more apparent and that deal could end up being the terms of me paying.

I should have bailed, but I ended up getting that "need to help" feeling due to that fact i am a relatively nice guy. Well you learn more from defeat then victory.

I have a hard time excepting aid even when its offered and I really need it. I could probably hang out with someone asking for them, but I couldn't live with one. Its just to opposite from my "its my burden to bear" mentality, I appreciate any and all help that i get, but I try to turn down as much as I can. like a few ppl like my bear <3, blitzy (aka crypitic wolf), and this guy i work with (chuck) are trying to give me things @_@.

People asking for help, when they actually need it is one thing. Sometimes people need a bit of a handout to get themselves out of a bad situation. All is good when they can lean from such an experience. The more common reality is that most people who ask for handouts are habitual askers. They have no intentions of learning from their misfortunes, as they discover new ways to separate people from their money. I see many of them on FA making their pleas for money anywhere from one to ten times each month! Those ae people I would neve live with, and ones I'd never make the mistake of helping. I learned that lesson back when I was in college.

oh yea needing it isn't bad, I myself have a small debt (had to borrow money from my BF cause I had to pay most of this rent month 1) and I gotta say that was one of the hardest things ive had to do, took me like 2 days to work my self up to asking even though he instantly said yes.

i will say, though my bear is worth having had to deal with otter. Cause yea my bear = epic amazing XD
