My Cat Might Have Cancer. :(
I say 'might' because my family and I honestly don't know what it is, but she's clearly very sick.
My dad took her to the vet recently, all he found out is that it's not a variety of worm, but he didn't have enough money for futher testing.
My bf kindly lent me his car and I spent last weekend at my parents house. I saw the cat, after not seeing her for 6 months, and I was shocked, she hardly looked familiar at all. She was always a tiny cat, never weighing more than 5 or 6 pounds, well, she's half the weight, I bet she weighs two pounds, she's skin and bone and is so skinny it makes her eyes and feet look too big for her. She throws up blood, she hardly eats, she wont let me pick her up anymore...
I gave my family $100 toward taking her back to the vet, despite still being unemployeed.
Honestly, we don't know how old she is, we briefly wondered if she is just slowly dying of old age... any cat or illness expert let me know if anything I'm saying sounds like something specific.
Even if she does die on us, she lived longer and better than she would have otherwise. She was a stray, I found her when I still lived in Ohio, she was wondering around downtown in the dead of winter and I opened my car door and she hopped in the passenger seat and just sat there, contently the whole way home. She loves people so much. :(
We don't want to put her down without knowing what it is, despite her condition she still seems so happy and doesn't appear to be in pain, then again, she is deaf, she can barely make a sound, never has, she opens her mouth and no sound comes out.
I just want the best for her. I'm not asking for money handouts, if you feel compelled to throw something my way don't announce it, I just want my cat in your thoughts/prayers.
I have a job interview today, and if I get it, the first paycheck is going to my cat.
I'm taking commissions to fund help for my cat, $20, for shipping and all, for a line art headshot badge.
20 slots are open, these will be done after everything else on the list is complete.

FA+

Poor thing, I like that cat of yours a lot. She was always a sweetie. Good luck. (with her and getting a job too)
Thank you, I'll mention the leukemia thing to my dad.
And thanks for the good luck, after the job transfer my hiring manager had to leave and be in hospice care, one moved, and the other died, oops, so that fell through! Hence my rush back to FA. :P
Oh woah @_@ That's crazy stuff! No fair D: (haha I was wondering about that, so much new stuffs!)
Yeah, lol, sucks, but wow I don't miss that job.
Which they call it leukemia which is cancer but more of a virus type in cats.
I have lost two cats to sickness. Though one was old enough he was ready to go anyway.
It is never easy.
*hugs*
We found our years ago that our cat has feline HIV but nothing could be done about it and nothing ever seemed wrong with him. Over the past few weeks he's gotten really sick and last week we brought him to the vet -- he'd sleep literally all day (moreso than most cats), and got to where you could literally see his ribs/spine when he used to be a really hefty cat. He was barely eating and he wasn't, and still really isn't, himself. Doesn't like it when we pick him up, either.
ANYWAYSSS we took him in and he has lymphoma. A type of blood cancer that attacks white blood cells and weakens the body to where it doesn't work properly in the end.
It could be that--? It sounds like they have the same thing going on.
It's non-curable, but there is a medication you can get that'll help ease whatever pain they have and give them somewhat of an apatite so they'll at least eat and not die of starvation. I'm sure it'll cost something but our vet gave it to us for free so I'm not sure what the price would be. He's been eating better since he's been taking it.
It's ... terrible and I don't know why shit like this exists. I really wish it didn't, but what can you do? :c
I hope things go well with you and your cat. <3 Best of luck.
Everything people have mentioned in the comments sounds like it has overlapping symptoms, which makes me fear it might not just be one thing. Hell, I just don't know. I just hope I get a job soon so I can send more money to my parents, faster.
Thanks so much for the input and good wishes. :< <3
