We are dying....(Upper Room #XXX)
General
The pastor at my church had a cook-out for us young adults at the parsonage.
Only Sarah and I showed...it became 'dinner with da pastor', which was fine.
Sarah leaned over to me and wispered: "This is sad."
Our church is dying...I sense that it will no longer be there in the coming years....
Pray for us please...

Body and Spirit
Read Revelation 22:1-7
[The servant] was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
-Isaiah 53:5 (KJV)
FIFTY years ago, I had the opportunity to preach the gospel in remote villages with an evangelist who trained me. Along with preaching, we taught the people how to take care of their health and gave them tips for good hygiene.
One of the people who heard us asked me, "What is your contribution in this healing ministry?" This question stays in my memory. Some might think that preaching has little to do with health and healing, but the vision of wholeness found in the Bible includes both physical healing and salvation.
This is part of God's ongoing work. Revelation 22:1-7 offers a vision of the tree of life, and "the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations" (verse 2). The world needs to hear the scripture's message about healing and the place of healing. Jesus Christ, who healed people's physical diseases, also offers cure and comfort for our souls.
In a world full of tension, terrorism, and violence, Christ invites each person to experience healing and comfort. That is why Jesus calls to all of us, "Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matt. 11:28).

It is those churches that are holding to the authentic teachings and traditions that are thriving and growing. Or so at least that is my experience.
