I'm surprised you hadn't heard of them before. Great stuff...well, their first album, at least. I don't dig their second album as much. Try playing Audiosurf to some of the first album music, especially Pompeii.

Also, not as "epic"-sounding, but you should check out Lisa Gerrard and Violaine Corradi.
