steampunk ideas! I need some inspiration!

General
ok...I am trying to get some general ideas for my Halloween costume (yes, I know it's 2 months away-I will be working on it in little spurts due to having a toddler-so bear with me. Thankfully I already have lots of clothes/costume parts and accessories to work with) Here's what I'm trying to decide on: I am trying to create a steampunk persona for myself (I will be her for things other than Halloween). I'm trying to sort of base her off my personality and make her fit into a steampunk world-I have a few ideas but first I'll list some of the qualities that will have to work :
-very opinionated (and not afraid to share that opinion with everyone else)
-NOT fru-fru...sort of tomboy-ish but well aware of how to use her feminine powers of seduction ;3
-not really one to take orders well-would prefer the alpha/lead position or at least second in command.
-likes sharp things
- off-beat and a little strange tot he average person
-quick, hot temper.
-very curvy, soft. voluptuous figure
-tends to be a little sneaky and mischievous
-loves to fly and love to go fast (also a bit of a dare-devil)
-loves tea and exotic goodies (food, artifacts, doo-dads) <3
-very creative and inventive, but not super mechanically-minded
-good with weapons
Ideas thus far: Sky pirate, Adventurer/explorer, non-official Archaeologist, Apothecary, Alchemist, and many more...but I can't decide....help!!!

And for the clothing, I recommend getting an old, slightly worn, brown leather gloves with no fingers (or cut them off) and sew a brass plate on the back of the hand.
For a coat, just get an old timey tux with tails, make it casual (trim the tails, they should fray a little. Try a thrift store). And add wires and tubes sticking out along the collar, back, shoulders, and sleeves (forearm).
For the back and shoulders its to make it look like exhaust vents. For the sleeves, just attach it to the inside of the coat so you just see it sticking out. It shouldn't impare movement or be too heavy, which is why copper tubes should be used. They also can be shaped with minimal tools. The collar can have copper triming if you want, otherwise just sew shinies on it.
OH! And a hat.... Top hat, bowler hat, or even a fedora would work after some decorative wiring has been threaded in. Use like a sewing needle.
Try a hobby lobby, a lowes, a thrift store or discount antique appearal store, and a fabric shop to get good thread. Or you can use the wire. You'll also need an electric drill (drill press would be optimal to keep it from slipping, you'll need a pipe cutter, and a table full of pliers. Aswell as several hammers. If you have a favorite hammer you use for everything (mine is a 12lb hand sledge and I use it for EVERYTHING hammer related because I've used it so much) and one on the oppisite side of the scale.
And an apprentice to an inventor, or a mechanic or something.
Because you're an apprentice, you won't be TOO technical and you can still keep the insanity that comes along with being an inventor. :D
