I never realized how good Manson makes for night driving music. On the way up to the Chicago burbs I listened to Manson's "Holy Wood and the Shadow of the Valley of Death" all the way through, and on the way back I got "Mechanical Animals" and "Antichrist Superstar" in--basically his three besties. Three and a half hours of sparsely-lit Illinois highway and the stretched-out, construction-choked streets of Chicago 'burbs? Gimme something loud, conceptual, and atmospheric. He's just so... angry... and it comes across so sincerely.
...in a bit of a nerd moment, I was also very happy I listened to them in chronological order. Not release order, mind you--chronological.

I grew up in the Chicago suburbs. :)
Second, you gotta love the Zombie. I may be seeing him and Alice Cooper in concert this October for their Halloween gig. I do love my Zombie, be it White or Rob.
I spent 11 years outside of Chicago, 11 in California, and now I'm living up here in Oregon. :)
I grew up in Michigan, and then was in Oregon for about 7 years before "circumstances" (read: nagging parents and a boyfriend) dragged me back. Still would love to move back out there some day.
Honestly I found "real" Oregon (not work, which was filled with Californian transplants) to be quite a bit like a somewhat less biblethumping Michigan, ecologically and culturally. In fact apart from Seattle the rest of Washington (including the inept drivers) reminded me a lot of Ohio. I suspect the similarities are why many people from around here wind up over there.
Love the gun laws here.
Love the weather.
Love the fact you don't have to smog your car.
Love the 2 year car registration.
Love this state. :)
But yeah, it has advantages, even though I'm not a gun person, and couldn't tell you the first thing about it having any unique laws thereof. I mostly like the climate, scenery, and atmosphere. Apart from all the treehugging pot-head hippies in downtown Portland, but even they have a certain charm.
Right now I seem to be listening to a Compliation of 80s Music on a CD my dad made me after he found out what I do for a living XD
btw, get on MSN dude. I wanna talk to ya.
