DETAINED FOR NOT ANSWERING QUESTIONS BY FEDS AT AIRPORT

Okay for those who don't like politics stuff, here is your chance to leave now. Now before I go into this, I must say that I honestly don't like politics stuff but there will be extreme rare times when I must say something. Now on to the stuff.... For one I am glad this guy stood his ground to exercise his rights. Its not always that one sees this kind of thing and the reminder is almost everywhere. You have the RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT. There is also another saying Silence is Golden. Many see this as a waste of time and just get on with the answering of questions and moving on. So one would rather give up the rights and be possibly picked to be searched on based on what you say. Of course the chances of this is not great but its not slim either and in most cases its a 50/50 depending on what one says. I applaud this guy for having the guts to do this and apparently its not his first time either.

I gotta say... I think this guy's a douchebag too. Granted, it was asinine that the airport security was so ANAL about everythin' instead'a just searchin' 'is bags outright, but seriously... Was this entire exchange even necessary? "None of your business" seems a lil' over-the-top ta me... 'f it were me, I'd just tell 'em "Business trip.". When they persisted, THEN I'd get snarky.

OP
You might want to read the next blog then. Though either way I still believe he was within his rights whether it makes him look like a jerk or not.

I read both blogs. Dude was bein' a dick an' got detained fer it. I don't care what he thinks he knows or what kinda legal rules he digs up. The government can essentially do WHATEVER they want at ANY time. Sometimes not even within reason! A conspiracy theorist like this guy should'a known better. I'm not exactly anti-American, but even I know if I screw wid customs, they're gonna screw back. More power to th' guy since he thinks it was worth his time I guess...

I understand we are in paranoid times, but damn. It is true, we have the right to remain silent if we want to, and nothing they say can change that.

Okay at first I wondered if this might be some arab who was behaving suspiciously but...yeah, he's right. He showed citizenship and cleared customs, he did not have to answer any questions. I could understand if the person was just making small talk but that's not their job and they shouldn't have reacted so harshly.

I applaud this guy for standing his ground. And one more reason why I will never fly.
