I've been looking at schools, I have a couple options in my area and some in neighbouring provinces. My parents are not really thrilled with Graphic Design as my choice. To be honest, I'm not even sure if thats what I should be taking either, but as usual I'm on a time crunch. All I know is I love drawing, but I hate animation, so this was what was presented to me. I know I can stick with it, what scares me is what my parents say. "I know people who've taken that course. They're working min wage jobs now." then they deny that they're trying to deter my choices. It's like they're giving me my choice, but telling me I'm already going to fail.
It's got me in a slump of sorts, I picked up a pencil for the first time today in like two weeks. Lately I haven't been eating well, it's weird, when you notice these things about yourself. I feel fine, but I know I'm not. Gotta keep my head up though. My birthday' in 3 days, I'll be twenty (gawd I'm old).

Just... just shut up! LOL Try being 27!
Also about graphic design... unfortunately, it's true. I know friends who majored in that field and are struggling to find work. But then again, anyone with a degree right now is struggling to find work, and usually end up doing things they never even majored in. It's a sad depressing truth right now, but who knows what may happen in the future...
The economy might turn around for the better!!
As for jobs, unlike the US especially Florida it's not so bad up here. I don't know about graphic design very well but isn't that only for like making graphic of cars and thing like that?
If it's conducive to making backdrop scenery then there might and I say "might" be some job for you here in Montréal. You should look for those game making companies, like electronic art and the like. They are very big and active up here in Montréal. I think that they use a lot of backdrop and stuff like that in there games. They might be even using graphics, who knows. You should write them and ask.
If not, and you still want to keep to drawing then there might be a different kind of drawing you can do. It's industrial drawing, the Autocad kind. One of my friend is doing that for a job. He did not had a hard time to find his job and the pay is honest. Of course Autocad drawing is not a piece of cake, I know I did learn how to use it but I'm sure you can do it.
That is something you might think about if you want to be drawing something as a job. It might not be what you had in mind, but it's probably a better choice for you then Wall-Mart.
I would normally say "keep up the good work!" but in your case I think I will save that for later when you get your job...
Bye
