Spirit Day!
It’s been decided. On October 20th, 2010, we will wear purple in honor of the 6 gay boys who committed suicide in recent weeks/months due to homophobic abuse in their homes and at their schools. Purple represents Spirit on the LGBTQ flag and that’s exactly what we’d like all of you to have with you: spirit. Please know that times will get better and that you will meet people who will love you and respect you for who you are, no matter your sexuality. Please wear purple on October 20th. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and schools.
I'm posting this here because I think this stuff is important. I'm sure a lot of you have seen on the news about those who have recently committed suicide over being teased for being gay--they're not even a fraction of those who turn to that as a result. I figured it'd be a good idea to post this here because the furry community is large and generally very accepting of sexualities and I would hope would want to be a part of making Spirit Day happen. So, please wear purple on the 20th! And please repost this message in your journals, too! This is the image that has accompanied this message on other websites, in honour of a few of those boys.

I hate where society is, but at least it is slowly getting better towards people with alternate lifestyles. Nowhere near as bad as it used to be, and i find that society is becoming more understanding and open as time goes by.
If only the people around those boys where more accepting.
