Infinity: The Quest For Earth

This is a game currently in development for 5+ years (and for some reason, classed as vapourware on Wikipedia) by mostly 1 programmer, with all sounds, graphics, etc. supplied by countless volunteers willing to support the project.
I tell you what, at this stage, the game looks fucking amazing! Mind the swearing... it's just how astounded I am about it.
The aim of the game is to be a MMOG, massively multiplayer online game, in a practically infinite sized world - minus the fact that we're limited to the Milky Way Galaxy, or 200+ million solar systems. All generated randomly and on the fly - so if you wanted to visit a random star, you'll jump there, and the area will be generated randomly, then saved, so you can come back to the same place in the future!
Players are also limited by a ship, for travel, I was hoping we'd be able to get out and walk on foot - but I can understand why not, considering how much WORK is put into this thing! Players basically have to work their way up the ladder, starting as a nobody and doing... stuff to get to be well known in the universe. Something along those lines - my dad says it's like a game called "Elite"
EVERYTHING is to scale, as in, if you really wanted to travel star systems without using a hyperjump... you're looking at a long waiting time. The planets are even to scale, just look at that in the above posted video!
The story involves 3 factions, at a time where humans have split off into the said 3 factions and earth has been lost. There won't be any aliens, as far as I've heard about, which is a bit disappointing to me, and other sci-fi fans. But then again - it is a simulator after all.
All I can hope for is that this project won't go downhill, and will be completed eventually!

Well, interesting project at the least, I would buy it. But with one programmer? Hes gonna have some trouble building a game like that, not to mention the countless hours at the computer. Don't expect this game soon.
