The Furry Chef: Apple Crisp
Last night I made Apple Crisp in a crock pot. It was amazing and it made the entire appartment smell like christmas for six hours. It bordered on a form of cruelty and torture. I think the next time I make it I might add sliced ginger instead of using ground ginger but I'm just crazy like that. Anyway, it was really easy to make. Here's the recipe if any of you want to try it out.
6 apples; peeled, cored and sliced
stick and a half of butter; softened
1 1/2 cup of all purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup uncooked oats
1 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
Place sliced apples into bottom of greased crockpot. In a large mixing bowl, mix the flour, brown sugar, oats, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ground ginger. Add butter and vanilla extract to dry ingredents and mix until small clumps form. Spread mixture evenly over apples, breaking up any clumps that are two large. Top and cook for 5-6 hours. Serve with homemade whip cream and caramal.

I'm going to try making a pumpkin pie from a pumpkin today, instead of canned. :D
