Just an attempt

I don't know how well I can write with furries involved, but I will do my best. It's not like it changes much, right?

As she step forward, Ferth could feel the breath in his chest welling up. He looked down at it, noticing how perfectly the fur rose and fell with his chest, like it was all under direction. His tail flicked back and forth from one side to the other, as it's great, black expanse threatened to knock over the end tables at each side.
On more than one occasion this tail had given Ferth a great amount of trouble. In his youth he was always being scolded for the things his tail did, whether it was an accidental touch of the girl beside him or knocking over the boy behind him at lunch. People always expected him to answer for his tail having a mind of its own, but no one really knew how much pressure it had left him with.
Now, he was looking over a great area, just watching as more than a few juicy-looking victims crossed below him. He hadn't eaten in three days, and now he'd gotten lucky enough to find this great herd of cattle. His ears twitched with excitement.
Unable and unwilling to contain himself anymore, Ferth ran around the cliff and down upon what he thought was an unsuspecting group of dinner-on-the-move. Unfortunately, they knew he was coming, and began to run. Picking up as much speed from the mountain as possible, Ferth tried to catch up.
Stepping one foot after the other, he felt himself picking up speed and traveling faster than he ever had before. Feeling the wind rushing through his ears and his tail trailing happily along behind him, he couldn't help but feel extreme joy for this day. It was an incredible feeling.
Looking into the distance, he spotted a large cow and charged after her as fast as possible. He knew he'd be closing in soon, but just as he could smell the meat and a nice meal, something went horribly wrong.
Ferth felt his chest seize up and fell from his feet onto the hard ground. He couldn't breath anymore and that rock that had done the damage, after being kicked up by Ferth's target, fell beside him, only inches away from his nose. He felt utterly defeated and curled up into a ball in the pain he felt. His stomach growled at him while his mind raced through all possibilities of what he could have done.
It was not uncommon for Ferth to mess up so entirely. He'd always been one of the weaker wolves in his pack, and he had been hoping he could disprove what he knew everyone was already thinking about him, but when he finally caught his breath and looked up, he saw a familiar set of paws.
Luna stood above him, shaking her furry, white head. Her eyes were an ocean in Ferth's heart, as he'd always felt strongly for this particular girl. Her ears flattened as she tossed an extra piece of meat at Ferth.
"You know," she said, sounding somewhat disappointed, "I had really hoped you'd catch that one. How did you mess it up? You were gaining speed beautifully, then you just fell over."
Ferth wasn't at all comfortable, knowing that Luna had been watching him this whole time, but he took his gift in a pouty manner, then turned to Luna and started, "Oh, I almost had her. I was so certain I would catch her. I could taste her already, but she cheated." This had not struck Luna correctly, as Ferth could tell. She looked at him as though he were crazy. He knew he'd have to be more specific.
"Well, you see," he continued, "she kicked up a rock while she was running away and it caught me in the chest. It really knocked the wind out of me, you know?"
This had not gone over much better, but now her look implied that he was an idiot...

Yeah, I think that worked rather well.
