What happened?

My fursuit maker won't be able to finish the suit in time for MFF. She says she got kicked out of the house. However every since she took on the commission she's been giving one excuse after another why she can't show me any productivity on the suit. I gave her a $325 down payment in June for supplies. I paid the rest on July 5th. She got the "supplies" TWO months later! Every time I try to see how things are going she's out of town on "vacation." What the hell? The money wasn't to pay for her to romp around the world it was to commission a fursuit! Now she says everything is in storage. I left a comment pretty much saying if she can't work on it soon then she needs to just send it to me so I can do it. I haven't heard a peep from her since.

I hate situations like that >< I'm hot advocate of "I pay , I demand" rule... That's why in such situations , I'd go with "Half now , half when I see it done". What can I advise You? Tell her that You're going to sue her if she won't make that suit in time You'd specify (give her a month , or two). If she'd just shrug You off , really do sue her - I dunno how it's like where You live , but here where I live written commission is like a normal , law protected deal. Either that , or demand full refound , say that You changed Your mind and take Your money back. I can ask a friend of mine for a contact to his fursuit maker if You'd like.

i'd demand a refund, because a good chunk of the money is for the time/talent of the builder, and if she ends up just sending it to you as-is, then she's made a profit from doing nothing. if it is partially done, i'd ask for a partial refund then. either way, you needs to get some of the money back
