Monster's Formspring I was in the kitchen making my dinner and Dallas was nearby on the floor. I gave her bellyrubs because that is what dogs need to thrive, and lo and behold! A giant fist-sized lump on one of her breasts. So when I (immediately) told my mother this, her only response was "I don't care." Also, all of my dogs have died of cancer. All of them.
I was kinda blindsided. So after notifying my stepfather, I trekked after my mother and told her that I felt she was being horrible and asked her to have some empathy. And got yelled at. Because apparently the animals that live in our house that we own are "NOT [HER] RESPONSIBILITY."

And as for the cancer, I'd blame it on the fact that my stepfather smokes around the dogs, always has, and does so frequently. All have kicked the bucket due to lung cancer, and this dog would be the exception there. But he does feed them shitty foods (Pedigree, ugh) which could definitely be an issue.
Yeah, pedigree is pretty terrible, the first ingredient is whole ground corn which is more of a cancer-causer than cigs for dogs. its like feeding a meat eater cereal and chicken guts for their whole life and expecting them not to have problems. They can't digest corn. some of the worst brands are iams, beneful, eukanuba, pedigree, purina one, science diet, etc etc. many of the dogs I have known who have been fed any of these have ended up with fatty tumors late in life.
But man, shock collars and hitting too? Yeah I think I hate your parents too. :\
