Favorites, Watches, and Shouts: Thoughts?

I kinda ration out my favorites to at most one a day. That way it just shows that the image just stands out amongst the flood of other images I get under my watch list. It doesn't feel as important to me if someone is marking every recent image that pops up on FA. I dunno. That's just how I feel about it.
I look forward more to seeing comments on my image than anything too. So when I mark a favorite I also comment on the image and let them know why I like it.
I don't watch everyone that watches me. I do go to that person's gallery that's watched me and see if they have anything worth watching. I don't watch empty accounts since I don't see much point. I don't watch to make friends, I just happen to like that persons work. If someone wants to make friends, they can feel free to contact me, all my info is right on the front page.
One thing I don't get is why people get upset that people thank them on their shout box. Isn't that what the shouts are for? A lot of artists I've seen are saying things like, "PLEASE DON'T THANK ME." or "It clutters up the shout box." Clutters? With what? Makes it feel like the person is saying, "Take your stupid kindness and go ta hell." Seems kinda uppity to me.
I'd like to hear peoples thoughts on this. Maybe I'm wrong.

Comments= I try to reply to every comment with something, even if is a stupid "LOL" comment or something. I don't want anyone to feel like I'm ignoring them. If I leave a comment, usually I try to come up with something witty. But I can't always.
Favorites= I don't thank people for those. I probably should, I appreciate that they like my pic, but honestly I don't have time to thank everyone for every favorite. Similarly, I usually favorite stuff I plan to download later. and keep it faved for archival purposes.
Watches= I sometimes thank people for watches. Not all the time though. And in the case of
Notes= Always answer these as soon as I can. Notes are serious business, it means someone took the time to write to me. I need to show the same courtesy.
Watches..I pretty much watch people whose artowrk I really like, though tend to not comment so as not to end up saying what the last person said. ALso part of the time I never know what to say.
Favorites...I fave to many things. Nuff said. ^^;
I only comment on rare occasions due to the fact that just about everything I think of sounds lame, cliche, or has been said by other people.
