do burnt discs work with modded wiis?

i was talking to 
chaoscoyote and he told me he had burnt a copy of fatal frame 4 onto a disc and it plays with the wii. however i was told burnt copies do not work with the wii.
i was reading about this english patch that only seems to work with rea discs. not iso files...
does anyone have any experience or know if thisll work?

i did the ame thing.. installed the homebrew channel.. i did this for the sole purpose of playing fatal frame 4 which was never released in the us.. but the english patch clearly says it only works with offical game discs
You load up the Twilight Hack, add in the Home Brew software that allows you to play DVDs and Burned games, and then off you go.
I tried it once before selling my Wii, and it failed miserably for me; but then again, my burner sucked
