A moment of silence if you will...

This is for the death of my tablet. More specifically the death of my mates old tablet that she passed down to me. It was very well loved when I received it and I am not sure about the condition it arrived in when Red got it originally.
A slim and aqua clear shell with a metal backing, so I can see the sensor board and the problem, the cable has come unplugged and I do not have the screwdrivers needed (extra tiny) to take the cover off.
So I guess it is not really dead but more in a coma state, either way it is not functioning as it should, or at all. However I do still have my trusty trackball with catch spots in the ball and loose well.
And now back to work.

You can get the screwdrivers at Radio Shack.

Or I his getto rigging wife can use a bottle opener and a pair of pliers as a screwdriver for the cost of a cigarette ad him getting coffee

Umm... That's a terribly good way to ruin the tablet.

What duct-tape?

OP
the silver kind

~cheery314
No, I mean how did you fix it with just ducktape?

OP
the usb cable had simply come unplugged from the curcit board, after red got the case apart she just plugged it back in then taped the case together.

Ah. I have the same problem with my mother's tablet. Only the USB didn't come unplugged, the wires broke inside the cable.

OP
eek, yea that is a bit more difficult to fix. I suggest electrical tape.

cheery314
~cheery314
No, I mean they're broken up inside it. Electrical tape won't restore the lost connection.

OP
just twist the wires back together, just make sure to match up the right wires. then you need to put electrical tape around each one separately to prevent a short.

Not possible. The break is inside the flexible part on the USB plug. I need a new cable. I just need to buy one from a manufacturer somewhere.

OP
Ah, in that case did you break it down to see how it "ticks?"

cheery314
~cheery314
Well, it just uses a grid of antennas. The pen is a transmitter.

OP
do you know if the are RF signals or magnetic?

Electromagnetic I believe. I thought they were RF, and I think they used to be, but they're EM now I think.

interesting.
