Oh, I know. I'm friends with Beowulf, and he draws them on a regular basis. Like I said, I don't have a problem with them at all. I just have no interest in drawing them, so I wouldn't enjoy doing so. I'd much rather draw things I like to draw than things that I really have no interest in, on a personal OR artistic level.

Huskies seem to be the fap-to species of choice these days, if that's what you mean. I don't see as many vixens any more, although gay, subby todds are always popular. (so cute) I've seen more kitsune than foxes lately, but that could just be my friends. There seems to be a thing for leptictidiums, (a long-extinct species of something-or-other), but they haven't hit the big time yet, still in the background. Erotica of all sorts is always popular, but there seems to be more non-erotic work. (Nice change.) Not popular but sought after? I've never been that much in-the-loop myself.

As contrary and pointless it may seem for me to suggest this, I think you should isolate where you are weak as far as technique and style goes and then practice where you need improvement.

I couldn't tell you what that would be, and I don't really have any suggestions for stuff I'd like to see as far as subject matter, character types or activities.. but, just the same, I'd like to see you work on something you need to improve on. Be it perspective, anatomy, lines, backgrounds, shading, coloring, whatever. =)

I'm actually trying to do that on each new piece I work on. The roo had perspective and a bit of play with lighting (admittedly, not much). I recently did a sketch with some background to it. I'm looking for new species and/or poses that I've never done.

Species-wise, I love to see them big-cat girls. :D Snow-leopards and tigers and the like. :D

Seconding the Huskies thing for species-of-the-year lately.

And a *LOT* of artists are selling batches of icons that they stream drawing, though that's mostly the folks making an actual living doing art. But in general icons seem to be the big thing, drawn around 400-600 pixels square digitally or scanned to abotu that resolution if real-media.

Seeing a lot more unique body-types showing up as well, flat-chested and/or more-realistic gals, less muscle-bound types. More 'feral' and/or quadrupedal art in the last year as well.

Basically, more variety, different artists finding their niche and grinding away at it. Only noticable 'global' trends are the husky thing for characters/fursuits showing up, and icon-mania, especially right now just before the Halloween/holiday season

You can always do seasonal stuff. Halloween is fast approaching, it's my favorite time of year regardless but this year Fur Fright is on that weekend making it extra special for me. So until the end of the month, anything horror related is good. Next month is November, and anybody living in America knows what that signifies. Alternatively, in November you can get the jump on wintery scenes and characters. When I come home from Fur Fright I'll be gearing up for winter stories again.

maybe making a list of species already done could be helpful. mixing that with workign on your weak spots shoudl do a good deal of the trick.
viewed from the other side, dinosaurs and prehistoric animals are semi-popular, and aside that, always an interesting sight.
also hooved animals and lesser-known subspecies of any modern animal.

gee, I don't know. I always enjoyed your art, I can't say where to go with it. besides, it ain't my place.
but maybe exploring your 'comfort zones' and then go further from there might be helpful, too.
for example, explicit sex scenes with everything visible, and bondage or dom/sub scenes aren't my forte, and not exactly within my confort zone. but I don't mind htem, or drawing them, and people seem to like the result. so, there. :)

Species: Well I might be a bit biased, but always love to see more squirrels, guys too, not just girls.
Situations: I'd like to see more tender stuff. I don't mean sappy, but the stuff that endears one to another. Specially with guys doing it for the girls, whether it's something sensual or not.

Uhh...I'm more lost than you when it comes to what's "in vogue" I didn't even know there were things that spiked in popularity more than other in the art world.

How about just suggestive art, something subtly risque, than overtly erotic/pornographic? More expression, pose, and tease of a hint of garter rather than a spread eagle.

What's coming is steampunk/dieselpunk. It's a strong geekfan response to a new spin-off genre. Fans that want to participate in science fiction or science fantasy appearing to be from the 1880s through 19teens, and science fantasy as done in the 1920s and 30s. Maybe alternate world retro-styling. This is not totally new, as the sf done in by Jules Verne and others in that past real-world time did look like 'steampunk' in many ways. And in the 1960s (and since then) there were the occasional stories and comic strips that used those styles. But in the last 3 or 4 years there is obviously a surge of interest by writers and fans (and it can be seen here on FA). There's a large component of role-play and costuming, and there are now fan-run conventions starting up that are centered on "steampunk".

(Note that this fan involvement is story-generated and fan-generated. This is not a reaction to one particular movie or TV show -- the creativity is being generated by the fans. It's almost like a cultural movement.)

"Paranormal Romance" is *hot* in publishing right now. Urban Fantasy, vampires, werewolves in a mix with relationships. It's a little too hot -- there is too many stories now being published in competition with each other. There may be a crash & burn for all the vampires. However, romance (code-word) is likely to become a part of all fiction genres now.

"Zombies" -- a current big thing in publishing. I'm convinced that it is a humorous, ironic response by the editors & writers to the excesses of the paranormal romances.... However, some humor/horror zombie movies are on the way, anyway.
