most likely the brand. i just grabbed the local store brand for cheapness. it's usually trustworthy but apparently not for salsa :O

Homemade is actually rather simple to make; just boil at least 3 jalapenos, then once they are a bit wrinkled and cooked smelling, cut off the stems and place into a blender with some chopped tomatoes and a bit of tomato sauce, put in garlic powder and if you have access, some chopped chile peppers for extra spice..if not..go for a bit of onion. and I mean a WEE BIT of onion.

You can omit the onions, I think that wasn't one ingredient
