Yup, it seems bigshow could bitch anbout any and everything......this time, yup you geussed it, the certification crap. Well, I though I had to put with with the normal asshats and the anti christian slurs and all that shit, but to ad to this shit, now we have some "rookie beeyatch" (word, noun, a word dicribing a total ass who thinks he knows whats what and that you have to do to in oder to do something) telling people that they arent artist cuz they aint when to school/college for it. What the Hell man!!! I mean, just cuz you when to college and got a degree, doesnt me a hilla shit if it turns you into a jerk. Ive seen soo many artist that havent (to my knownlege) had went to college. And if they have, then more power to them. Im going to college, not o be an artist, but to be a mechanic. Something that I have to be certified for nowadays. And my teacher accually incouraged me to try to get in a art class at college, but if the outcome is this, then, in the emortal words of the squirrel general from Conker's Bad Fur Day, FUCK DAT SHIT!!!!
This really brought my piss to a boil for some reason. Probably cuz he pisses off so many people at once in a single journal. Some agree with him, some say, in a since, that he is full of shit. And who made him fucking kind of art, there is no suck title. And the title of being an artist isnt held to those weilding a fucking piece of paper, off hell no. And his veiws on what a true artist is and should be are just assinine. How he could hold his noe soo far in the air that it makes him think he is better than everyone else is beyond me.
So in conclusion, im not certified, and Im DAMN PROWD! And if you feel as though you dont want to look at my art, cuz it aint certi-fuckin-fied, then I suggest you walk out the door.

However...
While it is true that self taught artists can be just as good as if not better than educated artists you make it sound like an educated artist is worth less than a self taught one simply because he or she attended a study. Thus being quite a hypocrit for dissing those who DO attend art schools.
Being an art student myself I know how difficult it is to get in a well reknown art school. While this doesn't mean I am better than self other artists this IS an accomplishment. After all I did learn everything myself and with those skills I was able to get in - meaning I worked for it.
It's all about the effort you put into your art. Being an art student shows, to me, that you have a strong dedication to the things you love. Of course it's possible in other ways as well but I'd appreciate if you wouldn't write such a black and white journal, even if a rant.
Besides I think most of you get the whole concept of art schools wrong, it's mainly about building a network and being able to get a job in the business while learning new things. Then again, perhaps the American art schools are just fucked up compared to the European ones thus spawning asshats like this person.
That retard has no right to call your art of a lesser grade, I agree with that. But no matter, art students WORK just as hard if not HARDER to get recognised for their works.
Some of the biggest assholes I have ever met have certifications (does that make them a certified asshole?). Unfortunately a piece of paper is a very weak support structure. These "certified" people cause numerous problems for people on DA as well (harassing less talented members into leaving or having their pictures removed).
The biggest question is, do you have a job because of your certification? Because everyone knows an art degree doesn't put money in the bank. Certifications are only momentary distractions from that fact. Frankly, school is only meant to improve your skills, any teacher/professor/etc will tell you that. I've learn more in the few months I've been on FA about art then I have in school.
Art is heart and soul, you have to be able to see and feel things when you look at a picture. A person may be able to draw the Mona Lisa, but where's the heart, the pain, the love, ETC? A good artist can doodle a stick figure and you can feel something. A bad artist draws the Sistine Chapel and you feel nothing.
But hey, there are always people who say things like that... I don't think we ought to be paying attention to this person. It seems like the majority thinks such opinions are laughable.
For centuries people have tried to define what art is. They've failed, because in the end it's a matter of taste. Art is such an abstract concept. If it cannot be defined by the entire human race, how could it be defined by some random guy who posts stuff in some online art community because of some, I dunno, personal issues or something?
But not all of us think like this guy does though. I went to art school, i learned alot but not enough to call myself all mightly, god knows I have alot I have to work on. If anything art school is just to help you explore other things and ideas, thats all it is. My teachers always said to me " Your draw, your an artist."
So I don't agree with what this guy said. Going to art school is not a bad thing, its good to learn other things and to show you ways on doing things, but not the only way of doing it. Art school just helps learn the basics on things, not how to be famous artist, that depends on you and your hard work or so they always told me.

its one way to learn how to become a great artist, but learning how to be doesnt make you a great artist.
an artist isnt an artist untill their work is appreciated by an audience that finds the work appealing in ways their own ways.

but im no where near at any point or given any privelege to call myself a great artist because of my choices in how i can improve my skills, the only time somebody in the world can be called "a True Great Artist of all Time" is if they are used in art history text books and museums from now untill the end of time when the last poor highskool student has to memorize their name for a quiz on great artists of the 21st century.
i dont have the skills or rights to call myself a true artist, all i can say is "i draws good."
