you also draw them with accentuated curves and blushes. That adds to the whole "cute" factor. If you started using harder more rigid lines that made figures bolder and more corporal then it would lessen up on that. They dont have to look like there in pain to eliminate some of the cuteness. They can still be happy and such but i think thats why people say that. Your figures are normally rather wispy and light, this is even more so becuase of the way you color. At least thats what i think. Nothing wrong with it in the least but. It conveys an air of lighthearted playfulness rather than hard, heavy passion.

Hmm... you're right. Man, I forgot how to draw my lines hard and rigid. I've put most of my practice last few years to draw loosely. That's what I think in turn attributes the "whispyness" and "lightness" of my stuff. Guess I have to get back to the drawing board then. =_=

well its not a bad thing you draw that way. Its your style. Also you use OC alot if im not mistaken. So im shure your also used to use little pressure to draw and color things. Maybe if you took some time and went back to a more traditional medium of pencil and paper for a bit. Considering if you had a scanner as well. If digital is your only means then i can see where that would be a problem.

There's too much hard stuff out there, already. Experimentation is nice, but lighthearted, tactile stuff is just more interesting, IMO.

well, i'm pretty sure drawing more ecstatic or painful expressions in your adult art would certainly give you some good practice with facial expressions. i'd like to see a little of that, sure!

happy porn is good, but you should try different things, just to mix it up a bit y'know.

Your happy porn is different than most, and I find it very refreshing as too many furry artists just draw porn where the furs have an unrealistic look of esctacy on their faces. I would try a couple of ones where you attempt what your friend has mentioned, but personally, I love your happy porn and hunt for your submissions everytime I come online.

Well in the end, it's really up to you. If your fine with the way your art is now, why change it? I come to find that drawing things that doesn't suite you causes you to loose intrest in drawing and on some occasions LOOSE skill. ^^;

Just draw what you like, and be true to yourself.

I think it depends on the characters. Some of your characters look like they should be having 'happy porn'. It'd be weird to see them all 'hardcore'. o.o

Besides, happy porn is super hot. Seeing someone in absolute glee while doin' it is way better than them looking like they're ill or something. Plus it seems more natural t'me. o.o I dunno why anyone wouldn't be in glee. XP

If you do change, don't go for 'painful' expressions. It's very hard to get 'ecstacy' right because most people think it means the characters look like their in pain. It's actually closer to what you already do. Ecstacy is a very subtle expression.

Just to add, lets take your recent porny pic. It's SO much hotter with Sapphira actually clearly enjoying herself. Otherwise it'd look like she's being coerced into doing it or something. That's nawt sexy, IMO. o.o

That is exactly what's bothering me with changing into "hardcore facial expression" if that is even a valid name for the term. I'm not very into coercing others into sex myself, it's not in my nature to do so. Drawing such kind of pictures makes me feel awkward. So I agree that isn't sexy.

However it feels like if I keep on with this happy porn stuff, it'll leave me in a creative rut of some sorts.

I could argue that you're actually being more creative by having 'happy porn'. I mean, be fair to yourself, it's not like your characters are always grinning like loons or something like that; there's a variety of facial expressions in your work. Take 'Teaching Aid', for instance. Different situation, different expressions.

As always the best advice in most situations, I can only suggest balance. By all means stretch the horizons, but not at the expense of what works. You already have more variety than a hell of a lot of artists out there. Balance is difficult, but hey, considering the standard porn art expressions are 'in the middle of undignified grunt' or 'wailing like a banshee' then I say that by having expressions that actually indicate various emotional states, you're already way ahead of the pack. ^^

Some of my favorite "porn" pics are the ones that show the character's emotions clearly in their facial expressions.

You're the artist. Draw what you want and leave it at that. If people would like a different style, charge them as a commission.

Draw what you like, but keep in mind that even happy fun couples make love in many different ways and moods, so a "hardcore" sex scene doesn't necessarily have to be rape or painful... just intense love.

I'd say keep to the happy porn. The "ecstatic/agonized" faces usually resemble fish to me.

Pain is bad.
Ecstasy is good.
"Clean" and happy porn is best.

I think everyone has a different style, personally. Your porn is the hottest I've seen, and I think that would be true with or without the smiles. Regardless of what other people say, you should always do what feels right to you, personally. <3
