Hey all, it's been a while. A LONG while. I just thought I'd post a journal that's a bit more on the personal side (and explains why I've been gone for so long.) There are a lot of reasons, so I'll get started:
-College (most obvious):
In regards to my previous journal mentioning funds, I'm already out of that issue just fine. xD However, this semester held some rather unexpected circumstances: I've had virtually no time for any artwork, namely due to the photography class I am enrolled in. This isn't a digital photography class, sadly - it's a traditional (and rather costly - I've spent between $400-$500 on this class's basic materials alone, NOT including the camera itself or a book of any kind) photography class, where chemicals and trays are involved. It's also rather time-consuming, as developing film and photos can take up to 4 to 5 straight hours of concentrated attention, depending on the amount of work I have to do. I have to visit the lab about twice a week to get my assignments done on time, and many have dropped that class because of they're in the same predicament I'm in (and the ones that are still in that class wish they had dropped...)
On top of this, I have two biology classes and two psychology classes. Both of my psychology classes require research papers. This fact really does not make my day, but I've managed so far. I'm glad to say that I'm nearing the end of my semester (I get out in December sometime), so I may return to my usual hangouts on Second Life and here on FA. Maybe.
-Hiatus from the Fandom:
The other reason for my disappearance is that I just got tired of the usual crap that runs around in the fandom and furry social scenes (this will be like a repeat lecture for those furs who know what I'm talking about), so be prepared for a little ranting.
I'll start off with nymphomaniacs. Well, nymphomaniacs that can't understand the concept of "no." Most of us understand that yiff/sex is a matter of consent (even rape fetish scenarios have to be consented to), and most of us understand what it's like to get stalked and harassed by that special fur who's constantly trying to get in your pants. More often than not, when you reject them, they have these intense, bipolar emo-fits. Then there's the other kind who just can't keep his/her/hir privates to themselves - they have to take pictures of their real-life genitalia and force it on you. Then, you have the case of the psychoanalyst furs, who think that there's something morbidly wrong with you if you reject sex/yiff with them, and they'll tell you anything and everything to make you believe that you should yiff them for your own "well-being."
Anyway, whatever the case may be, I'm sure most of you know what I'm talking about. Of course, it's the furry fandom, and things like that aren't going to be totally unavoidable (which is why the block/mute/ignore option exists.) My tolerance level for these kinds of things has gone down considerably, thank goodness, so this kind of rant shouldn't appear much more in any future journals, if at all.
Now, moving onwards, we have our social elitists. These tend to be most prominent on SL. And they really don't like people whose avatars don't resemble theirs in a certain manner. However, these social elitists, I find, typically fall in a certain age group that ranges between 20 and somewhere in the early 30's. Of course, not all furries in that age group are like that; I typically enjoy conversing with furs who have left the high-school mentality and are more mature in personality. Typically, these furs are somewhere between being in their late 20's to being in their 40's. The best part is, they really don't start any drama. This is just in my experience, though - there will always be exceptions to everything.
Lastly, we have DRAMA. An all-too-familiar word for anybody in the fandom. Fortunately, in my case, I only get drama from severe mental cases. Though, I do get a little tired when people can't cope with anything or can't get along due to reason "x-this" and variable "y-me..."
Of course, all these matters just led me to take a break from FurAffinity and SL in general - and from certain instant messengers. While I'm in the middle of this journal, I want to thank everyone who has watched me and found my artwork worth looking at and worth sharing with others! <3
It makes me happy to know that my artwork is likable and enjoyable. Though, I have my personal critiques on it, and I do want to make some changes on what I produce. I feel I haven't put much passion into my artwork, and I really want to change that. This may change how I do my commissions.
Now, in regards to my commissions...I have been taking a break from them. Those who have commissioned me may have long since forgotten about their requests (unless they paid in advance.) As I've kept lists of commissions in my journals, there really isn't much way I can forget who has commissioned me. xD However, because of my hiatus, I want my commissioners to let me know if they want me to continue their work or drop it (if they haven't paid yet). One change I am very likely to make to how I do commissions is that I will probably only accept two at a time; the batches will be very small. Reason for this is partly due to time issues and partly because I want to focus more of my energy into each piece that I produce. I'll be honest, though - that may make the pieces a little more expensive, but not too much so from how they are now.
This all being said, I hope you understand a little bit of how things have been with me and as for why I've been absent. I'm happy to say that I will be reappearing on FA and on SL when I get out this semester. I will probably be doing some serious friendslist cleanup - though, if you do get removed, don't take it personally; it's just to reduce the size of the list and spam that I get.
As before, I am always open to IMs and willing to talk to strangers. I'm slowly getting my nerve back in regards to meeting and getting to know new furs as well. However, in regards to friend requests, I will not be so open to that; the only function friending has is to keep tabs on people (in SL.) It also makes it easier to send IMs, so if you're someone who commissions me, feel free to friend me. xD Now, if you're someone who's just friending me for how my avatar looks...well, I'm flattered, but you're not going to be accepted.
If you have any comments or questions, please either comment on the journal or note me, and I'll respond as soon as I can. I'm not as popular as some people might think (if anybody thinks I'm popular, lul :B), so don't be shy to talk to me. ~
I'll be seeing you soon!

Glad to hear you are doing ok otherwise and it's perfectly understandable on why you needed the break from the fandom. I hope your classes go well. *hugs*
