A TF related blog. The people who run it also do a podcast which I listen to whenever it updates. It's mostly one commenter that just makes me like ugh every time I read a post there. People are upset about Transfur's new rules because they think allowing more explicit pics will result in a deluge of porn. Mostly it's people who are like super anti TF porn because TF is like.... some kind of sacred hobby?

The thing is I am not even upset about people not wanting porn to be on transfur, because whatever. What's done is done. Mostly I just hated the implication that I am some kind of pandering jezebel for drawing anything with a vag or (albiet more rarely) a dick. Oh, and also that I just don't care about the future of the TF community because I enjoy drawing explicit shit and sharing it with people who might also like it.

TF stands for transformation, generally of the physical sort, and generally involving one's body.
One of the key appeals of transformation - at least to me - is the concept of tactile variance and new understanding of one's body.
As such, while anyone who maintains the puritan ideal of "the body is bad and should be hidden" will always revile porn in any form, they will be especially resistant to the concept of adult-themed TFs for the self-exploration it encourages.

Such people can be safely ignored.

As for Tanuke, that place is a haven(hive?) for those "holier-than-thou" TF activists who think it's their right to police what TF content is considered acceptable. The admin posts these kinds of topics because he KNOWS it will start a heated debate/flame war in the comments. The admin does that solely for the traffic the sites recieves(and, to a lesser extent, the lulz that ensue.)

I agree completely on what you posted there. If people don't want to see said content, the filters are readily available to keep your eyes away from that. If they refuse to use those filters and just want a reason to complain...well...I guess that's their choice to waste their breath and free time. ^_^

To be fair to the admin, it wasn't him that Angrboda seemed to complaining about (though I could be wrong), its one particular visitor who unfortunately seems to wish to force his "holier-than-thou" attitude in regards to explicit TF content and sites like TransFur and FurAffinity on others.

I won't name him, but if you've ever seen one of his comments you'll know who I'm talking about. It's certainly a shame that some people can't help but get overly uptight about it, but I wouldn't condemn the entire site for the actions of a particular visitor who can't keep his opinions to himself.

I have no control over what people post on the site, but I also don't believe in censoring people unless they're being unnecessarily hateful, and even then it's a broad gray area.

I try to maintain tanuke as a website that people don't have to keep hidden. We have NOTHING against porn. I love TF porn. I have tons of it on my computer. I just don't think posting it prominently on the site does anything to improve the appearance of the community to outsiders.

I also take offense to the accusation that we're trying to police TF content. You can draw whatever the fuck you want, we can't stop you, and in fact we encourage it. (And hell, I'll probably +fav it!) I just think that there should at least be some dignity when it comes to discussing TF, and prevent situations like:

user1- "I like transformation."
user2- "Oh, yeah, transformation is awesome! I'd love to turn into a donkey and jack off into my boyfriend's ass to turn him into a donkey as well!"
user1-"Uhm... I just met you like 5 minutes ago. This is not a conversation you have 5 minutes after meeting someone."

Not every discussion about transformation has to degrade into a discussion about sex. Unfortunately, that seems to be the focus of EVERY SINGLE OTHER transformation site out there. Sex is obviously an aspect of Transformation fantasy, but it's not the only part.

Angrboda, I love your work. I've seen you progress all throughout the Daddy's New Formula saga and I'm jealous of your skills and talent. I've featured you on the site numerous times, and hope to continue to feature you in the future. I hope you will decide to post there again sometime.

I wasn't upset about the post itself, and I wouldn't even care if I didn't appreciate the site itself. I am not asking you to make the place into a hugbox or to censor anyone; I was just expressing frustration in a vague way to sort of vent and get it out of my system. People have every right to say what they think, but the entitlement (artists should only draw and post what I agree with otherwise they are just smut peddlers and/or wanking fanboys) there was just too much for me.

My whole argument about the porn on transfur being irrelevant from a community standard is that people not involved in the community, or lurkers with no accounts, or whoever would visit transfur but not log in, cannot see any mature images. I am very careful to flag everything I upload that is even remotely questionable as adult, because I wouldn't want people just kind of stumbling on porn. I take the same approach on my own website and have two separate warnings before you even get to the gallery. Anyway, the point is that the people seeing porn on transfur are people who have accounts there, are logged in, and have specifically set up their accounts to view adult images. If you do all that stuff, how can you be shocked and appalled when mature images show up in the recents?

I think transformation has both sexual and non sexual appeal. Certainly I view it as a fetish, but it's a weird case where there are more mainstream ways to enjoy it without delving into anything adult. I have drawn SO MANY non sexual TFs, and really have always tried to be fair to the segment of the community that is like "no porn, plz" by drawing a variety of clean stuff.

The conversation you posted has nothing to do with the prevalence of porn in the community and everything to do with people that are socially maladjusted and have no tact. I dealt with those people LONG before I ever put naked boobs to pixels.

Anyway, TL;DR, I like the website itself, I was just frustrated and wanted to whine at the internet. I was happy to have my drawings featured there and would be happy for that to happen again in the future if you happen to see something you really like!

Glad to know you're not upset with the website, just trying to make sure it's clear to your viewers that you're mad at the people who post there, not the site itself. The way you posted it in the journal caused a lot of people here to start bashing the site for no good reason.

You're not alone Angrboda, as I'm sure you know. I'm only a watcher (for now) and even I have noticed a bit of an attitude from a minority in the TF fandom. My partner who recently posted a couple of works on your great new oekaki, which you commented on and liked, is generally less into the sexual aspect of it than allot of people, BUT DID enjoy doing nudity in them and certainly doesn't see its a big deal that it can be a sexual thing too. Its just a bit of pretend fun right? Seems silly for them to get so serious about it. :P

I think you can be slightly into it, or slightly not into it, or really into it, or really not, whatever. There are times when I would rather not draw adult stuff and times when I am like "hot damn let's go", so I can certainly see it both ways. Anyway, thanks! Can I take a wild stab and guess that this person was Dragoniade? He's usually the one who starts ranting whenever the word 'Porn' is thought at the same time as 'Transformation'. I say keep drawing Porn! I've always said that an artist should draw whatever they like, regardless of what anyone else thinks.

I think he's about as close to a Troll as you get get without being outright rude. I mean, he does try to back up his arguments somewhat, but he just seems against any website that considers Transformation a Fetish in even the slightest way. It's not just Transfur, he rants against Fur Affinity all the time too. I'm not too sure the reason, but I do wonder if it's that maybe he blames these sites for the failure of his own. Still, best to just ignore him I think. He's annoying, but that's all. Not like he can do anything about it at the end of the day.

Summary:

More people are voting me down than voting me up. The reason for this, obviously, is that most people's opinions are invalid.

Furthermore this is why Transfur was wrong to institute new posting guidelines based on the majority feedback of their users and artists. Since most people don't know what they are thinking, clearly we should listen the minority.

Sorry for the double reply. I went and read your journal, and I just wanted to say that while we obviously disagree about adult art, I don't think that's a good reason to write off transfur all together. Personally I always flag as adult anything I upload that is NSFW, so it's not like you're going to see it. I think a lot of people are blowing the new rules out of proportion, just as an example, adult sex acts were ALLOWED under the old rule set. Even so, what was the frequency of adult uploads? Of the last nine things uploaded (even with the new rules), two are pornographic. I don't think you can call that any kind of a majority.

I know you do and everything about the flagging. There are a few that do. But still there are poeple that don't. And then that one incident where I told Transfur about the rule breaker. They told me to enfource the law. Not them. That hurt a lot. And actually The adult sex acts. They weren't allowed. I just figured that the one allowing all the porn was one of the admins *cough, cough, Shadowchaser, cough* And I know how little they were put up also.
All in all the porn was only one of the problems. Another was that they are allowing anthro and non tf art? Then it's not really a tranformation site anymore. Yeah there is one artist that calls his stuff tfs though they are clearly anthros. And of course how they treated a lot of their artist. I asked a few that were on there and they said they were treated really bad on there. And of course of them taking their fans money also. It's like they don't really care about it anymore. I guess the best example I can think of is as if Transfur was a country singer and was popular. And then just started to sing Hard Core Rock. Though some people may enjoy that. There are some, like myself, that just felt betrayed and stuff. Do you know what I mean.
I love your art and stuff. You have an amazing style and stuff. And I accept that you, as well as other artist that I watch, do adult works every once in a while. But I still like watching the creativity and how awsome your pieces are. (Like that dino seq you did. LOVE IT XD)I just ignore the adult pieces. So don't think of any less then me because of our differences and stuff

Also, I was pretty much just pissed at dragoniade. Not liking adult art is fine, whatever, but it's no reason to so vehemently attack the people who choose to draw it. I draw adult art sometimes but I would never attack someone's values who chooses not to draw it. I think people have the right to contribute what they want to the community (within the bounds of legality, obviously).

Yeah, he can get taht way a few times. He's just really strongly against it and stuff. And it does get out of hand sometimes. But hes a great guy when you get to know him. So please don't get the wrong impression.
I agree with you also on the rights. It's what Transfur did that was a big upset and stuff.

As someone who's normally not even that fond of pr0nz I'd like to point out I find your works a pleasure to look at, even with the more adult orientated themes, simply because you're a splendid artist, got a good style and I'm glad you still share it with the lot of us.
