No as if you watched the end credits Spryo's name dose not come up in the book meaning he is still alive somewhere.

I only played the NDS version. I thought he died too at the end... even cried all night about it :P But then I read some websites, saying that the ending suggested exactly that he didn't die. And that was the reason why the elder dragons couldn't find his name in the book and said "where might you be"... cuz he survived.
