Another milestone or two...
Right now, life is rather hectic and more than a little weird. Last week...in fact, exactly one week ago today (Thursday), I handed in my University thesis, bearing the incredibly fascinating title (hear the irony fellers, hear it):
The Gunpowder Plot - Attempted Regicide in 1605
Yes, ladies and gentlefurs, yours truly will have a masters degree in history in a couple of months after my verbal defense of aforementioned thesis. It feel strange. Being a student is part of an identity I've had for years and now it will change.
In many ways, I can't wait.
Next, I have only one chapter to go before I've completed my third online novel, 'Transitions II'. That chapter is long since completed and it will be posted next week on my site at http://aslaug.eu
This too feels kinda strange. My webmaster, who is kindly editing the whole story into one large file for easy access to those diehards who want it in a collected version, this book will end up being somewhere between 1500 and 1700 pages long.
Yes folks, you read it right. One thousand five hundred to one thousand seven hundred pages in length.
And that's just volume two. Volume 1 was long but...not -that- long. And 'Amat Victoria Curam' which is a stand-alone story set in ancient Rome is considerably shorter still but nonetheless at a respectable length for a novel.
When I sat down to write, originally, I had no idea what it would lead to. I had no idea I had so many stories to tell. So much I needed to show people. I post one chapter a week. Each chapter is about 13 pages long, on average. A chapter -every- week. I haven't missed one week yet. If I have to skip a week for some reason (because my webmaster isn't home to post or something similar) I'll post two chapters the following week instead. Sometimes I post two chapters anyway. On one of my two annual birthdays (read the story, it should give you an idea of what I mean) and on other important dates, two chapters go up.
Two chapters went up last week...because I had handed in my thesis.
I don't know if writing is supposed to be easy...but so far, it's come easily enough to me. I love doing so, and I don't have to struggle to find the words.
There is always more story to tell...
