Drama? Or Avoiding Drama

here is an argument I had with a friend over my point of view on if ignoring and avoid people on Places like Star Trek Online who harass you, taunt, insult you, and openly attack you (Rifle but) (Bat'leth stab) Throw smoke grenades, Biothermal ice grenades, is taunting them and egging them on or just avoiding drama.
Word of warning, I will openly admit that Yes I have a bit of a temper but do all I can to control it, and I did get hot under the collar.
the heart and soul of it is does ignoring people who are clearly ass holes in the game, and ignoring them and changing instant to avoid them taunt them, Or does it mark me as an EMO SOB whom every one should avoid.
Your opinions are important. please comment and please pass on. And for the record I do consider this Strata a valued friend.
So in a nut shell it boils down to this
Does ignoring someone who is coming up to you while you are playing STO, Rifle butting you, bat'leth stabbing you, throwing ice grenades, and taunting you, cause drama, and makes it clear that you are taunting people. Does it taunt people to ignore them when they are being ass holes in open ZONE chat saying goes into ignoring people who are being ass holes in chat, like claiming, HAHAHA fedies, Death to the federation, get your sorry asses back in PVP so we can slaughter you. and Ignoring people are talking in Zone chat like they are in real life a klingon.
They Say Yes it makes me a target for them to focus on, makes them seek me out all the time to harrass, target, taunt and poke at. Which I have not seen happen to me in the 200+ days I have been on STO.
While I say Nay I avoid them and avoid the grief and emotional drama to them and my self, and by not responding they loose interest and find some other pidgin

I am familiar with the jerks who'll put up a forcefield and cause you to be buffered into a corner or wall, friggin DS9 is bad about that with all those narrow corridors and no alternate exit except teleporter.
I didn't play much on klingon side, pvp driven story is kinda, lame in my opinion. Cause tomorrow, the other side will have the objective back and here you go again.
Putting people on ignore is a valid warning to me. I'm not in your clan/fleet, we don't rp, don't come out and assault me like you have some vendetta against my ship/family.
Jerks who abuse the physics in a place you can't retaliate get reported. Done and done.
It's not provoking or taunting or causing drama if you simply ignore someone. It's when you feed the troll that such things arise. Even something as simple as saying, "You're on ignore now." or voicing your opinion. And even then, if someone has it out for you, sometimes ignoring won't even work. I know for a fact that the old saying about 'not paying attention to bullies' will cause them to stop isn't always true. I ignored one bully in school for /months/ without any progress.
