All of the cool kids were doing it.
But really... Everyone can shut up now, the decision has been made and no amount of baaaaaw or discussion about legality will change it, sorry. Don't you think they thought about that? Honestly, the staff here on FA has been the most comprehensible, user-friendly staff I've had the pleasure of having to deal with ever, and I find it hard to believe that they would just be like "FUCK OUR USERS, WE DO WHAT WE WANT" without thinking things through.
