Ios4, Kindle app, writing and my many goings on.
First off Happy Thanksgiving everyone, I just got back from driving to get some quick lunch and a cup of coffee and I couldnt help but smile at what I saw when I was driving around the neighborhood. Every house here has a veritable parking lot in front of it and the combination of every household cooking a Thanksgiving day feast has made my secluded part of Atlanta smell amazing. I wont lie I look forward to being a fat bunny latter on today and passing out from over indulgence.
That said let me get onto the points of this journal, I have decided after fifteen years of doing furcons that it was time to do two things, one Im going back to the table. I really did enjoy doing commissions, not only is it some great side income but I really do enjoy the looks I get when someone cracks open their sketchbook and sees somthing new that I created. So for the next few months I will be cracking down on getting some new merch together and a new table set up planned. My hope is that by AC I can have three portfolios, two new sets of Furvert Lanyards (one of the classic rainbow and the other a surprise) and another run of the popular sandblasted shotglasses, tumblers and pint glasses. Keep an eye on my account, I'll be posting updates here.
The second thing that is changing is that Im going to try my paw at writing, after talking with the Furplanet chaps I decided that I've done everything else artistic I can think of but putting my stories down with word. I've acted, directed, done stage work, worked on music, drawn, painted in watercolor, oils, spray paint, and acrylics, web designed, made a game, diy vinyl, sandblasted, sculpted and made an erotic snowman. Now dont get your hopes all up, just like every other writer my book has to be accepted before it can be published and its going to take me awhile to write it seeing how this is my frist try. But even as I start writing this book I can see the appeal of it, I've got three stories already up in my head aside from the one Im writing for my first try and I cant stop typing away on my ipad every chance I get.
Steve Jobs said the Ipad was going to change everything, and my only retort when I first got mine was "Well its only changed how I take a poop" but now that Ios4 has come out I find that the silly thing never is more then two feet away. Im currently using it to write my book, check twitter, run aim, and have some Dj Shadow in the background thanks to Pandora. The multi tasking is fantastic and the keyboard dock I got for it has made writing and revising my book amazing, so thanks Apple worth every penny.
Speaking of applications tho I want to point one out to you guys, the Amazon Kindle app is fucking amaaaaazing. At MFF I got the surprise of getting to eat dinner with not only my friends Teiran and Fuzz wolf but also the rest of Furplanet and SofaWolf. To make that surprise even more awesome it turns out I gave a lift to Kyell Gold and his mate, so the entire dinner I got to chat with Kyell, Cyanni and Confused about writing and literature. At one point in the feast of deep dish pizza and salad Kyell said that I should read the book The Modern Library Writer's Workshop by Stephen Koch. So when I got hope I pulled it from Amazon to my Ipad via the Kindle app. For starters the book is awesome, Im about half way into it and it has given me some awesome advice as well as calmed some of my nerves about the book. Second the app is fantastic, not only will it show you parts of the book other readers have highlighted but I can bookmark a page, open the app on my android phone and it will go to the page I bookmarked on my ipad. How snazzy is that?
Anyways to conclude all of this ranting. Im going back to table work at cons, Im writing a book, Get [i]The Modern Library Writers Workshop[i] for awesome advice on writing, the Amazon Kindle App is baller, and enjoy your Thanksgiving.
Cheers mates!
