Yes, Opinions are like Assholes, I have one, and am told I am one... so.. Here is my statement, cause I think my opinion is more important. (Cause i know you'll take that last line seriously)
To those upset about the ban: FA and it's admins owe us nothing. While I'm sure they are proud of the community they have helped foster, remember that... This shit is EXPENSIVE! Multi terabytes of pictures, comments, userdata... Backups, and of course the bandwidth that keeps this place speedy when there are easily hundreds of thousands of possible users on at once. If they are losing money, then, they gotta do what they gotta do. And, pick their battles they did.
To those who feel like they won some moral battle: Uhm, no you didn't. Congrats, you are on par with bible thumpers who feel they have won a moral war by banning gay marriage. US law is actually has a grey area for sexual depictions of minors, if they are obviously fictional in nature. And what about those who think they should ban it cause obviously those who fap to cub porn are future pedophiles? Well, good news, in California they are banning violent video games, cause obviously everyone who finds it fun to pretend to shoot down innocent people in a videogame are future murderers. The moral slippery slope debate is as old as entertainment itself. And the conclusion is, fantasy does not equal reality. And the few times where people bring their fantasy to reality, the matter is, their morals were already Fucked up anyway. And this fantasy stuff didn't make it any worse. People need to take responsibility for their own actions, and FA, TV, Rockstar Games, nor Maralyn Manson aren't responsible for what You do. I mean, We all hate when the public sees us as furries and assume we all are into bestiality, just cause our art depicts animal like creatures engaged in sexual situations. What makes your view of cub porn any different.
Now I hesitate to make that last statement because i know at least 5+ people who may possibly read this journal who are actually into bestiality/zoophelia. (which is illegal in the US.).. but the point of assumptions still remains. YOU, the person reading this right now, might not be into Beastiality. And one more thing that's kinda interesting.. Most people who are into Cub Porn... fantasize about Themselves being the underaged person. I mean, I know that in the pictures i have in my gallery that I'm to lazy to pull down, I'm the adult, but they were volunteered by the person who was the underaged character. But when it comes to my fantasies, Being a beautiful egyptian prince with a perfect body is a LOT higher on my priority list.]

So a few people have connected Furs who are convicted pedophiles with cub art, and for this I have something to say. While my research is HARDLY scientific, The convicted pedophiles... all 2 of them, that I have seen since I've been here, had no major connections to the cub fur scene. As for people who have had sexual relations with minors IN the fandom, remember, this fandom attracts a LOT of sexually active people. even 15-17 year olds. In my time in this fandom, i have seen 15 and 16 year olds go around at cons, and online looking for sex. I have seen those that young getting caught up with people who are attracted to them for their age This fandom itself perpetuates sexual promiscuity, and when hormones of teenagers get involved, it can conveniently facilitate them. Am I blaming teens for seducing adults into sex, No.. what I am saying is that, from what I've seen, and I've been here a while... The pedo's around us, are most of the time not even connected to cub porn.

Same thing here. Even though it is all fictional it could actually be based off of somebody's child or even their own.
But also, one could argue though, they DO make videos around the concept of someone being underaged. There is a huge section of pornographic entertainemt that uses the term "barely legal". Plus there is always a search for models in these videos who look younger then 18.
BTW, I just want to say, i like to debate, i hate arguing. I respect your opinion and hope you respect my view as well, but an interchange of thought is healthy, and sometimes down-right fun.

When fantasy remains fantasy, It's great. If there is a real video depicting minors in sexual acts, it's not fantasy, it's reality.Even if it's just a video to me. It's like the difference between a Hollywood action movie and a snuff film. I have seen some pretty gory movies, but even the idea of watching a Snuff film turns my stomach. Hell, i'll even confess that in CoD:MW2 the scene where you are walking through an airport, gunning down innocent people mercilessly made me uncomfortable. It was based on real things, but.. I wasn't watching the real event. I'm sure many people have been shot in the head. In pulp fiction the situation is used in a comedic fashion. And i laughed. But i would have SERIOUS concerns if someone made me watch something like that where it happened in real life. even if it was on video.
So, if someone wanted to show me a video of a real 10 year old, being molested and taken advantage of by a real adult.. I'd have a SERIOUS problem with that. If it was a drawing by an adult based on something they did with a minor, Again i'd probabbly be against that too. But as I said before, most cub porn artists depict themselves in the role of the minor... at least all cub art I've seen.

I mean, I'll confess, if that is your basis for judgement, then I could be guilty. I have a picture on my gallery depicting my fursona touching another character who is clearly underaged. Now that was a pic that was volunteered by the artist. But i did commission a pic of myself with a friend who's character is an 8 year old herm bunny. But in reality we have had a sexual relationship and he's in his 20s.
To me, what makes such acts horrible has nothing to do with the actions, but the consequences. Doing something like that to a child who doesn't understand what's going on is selfish and usually such effects are achieved by manipulation. It can leave sever damaging effects on that child's brain that can destroy their lives. I know folks who have written stories or RPed themselves or others being kidnapped, raped, and held hostage.. I recently read this happened to someone For real.. (unrelated to furry, BTW). I think someone who would do that to a person should be hung and should suffer for what they put another human being through. Am I going to bash anyone into bondage for what that sicko did? No. Because in Fantasy... the consequences aren't the same. In RL bondage, there is a certain level of trust, or the loss of control is only implied.
But lets look at something, and BTW, i made an edit to the journal post...
Frank Gembeck. Popular furry artist was arrested a couple years ago as a pedophile. http://www.furaffinity.net/user/dustyn Now... He never drew anything cub related, and after looking through his list of favorites, had no cub art favorited.
Now unfortunatly, out of the several other fans and artists of cub art, I can't seem to find any connections to cub porn, and pedophilia.

I think the biggest reason many cub artist depict themselves as the cub is because there are nostalgic about there youth.. Sorta like remembering the good days..
For the porn part in it. Im not shure esactly there reasons. I guess they just like it..
