I just made a little tour there, and honnestly...WOW.
It's a *modern* website with everything FA is lacking:
- Possibility to create folders to group submissions.
- Multiple images upload in one go.
- Favorites have a score!
- The general interface is much more clear and pretty.
- All FA features are there, but are easier to find and use.
- Artist can make money very easily with stuff like printable submissions and donations provided by the site.
- A real search engine with advanced features.
- A real tag system with the possibility to ban certain tag you're uncomfortable with.
- You can easily ignore an artist's submissions and/or everything else from him.
- Watch/Unwatch without reloading the page.
...
I don't think FA would've stand a chance, should both site have started at the same time.

You think everyone will go over?
I'll keep on working on TNSC myself.
It's sort of a situation of "Rich get richer, poor get poorer" thing. Because all the top "popular" submissions are all submissions by people that have been there and been uploading for a long time, it's hard for anyone new to get noticed (and consequently, people fail to find new people to watch, leads to a disparity between heavy watched people, and less watched people).
If there was some way to change the UI to feature new art on the front page a bit longer I'd support it if only so I can discover new artists on the site that don't have the hundreds of watchers that the main people on the site do.
Popular is always likely to be with us because honestly, it tends to be significantly better than the average art. First impressions matter, and we want people coming to the site for the first time to see some good stuff (and because of the filters, it'll actually be good clean stuff, too).
I'd thought about it, but reading their 'mission statement' gave me pause. PAWS! Rawr!
... anyway I'm not keen on their mindset. I'd say why but one of them may be watching and I don't want to alter their altruism as it seems to be doing well for them so far.
Something will happen and there will be blood. So to speak. So I wish them luck.
