WikiLeaks- Stop telling me how great it is

I am sure plenty of people disagree with me and think Julian Assange is a modern hero, I think he is an idiot who wanted fame and got it. The latest release of informaiton points to it, there is nothing being blown here beside his ego. No whistles from people concerned about illegal actions. What he essentially did was take the personal diaries of the United States political system, and post it online. This is our people behind close doors talking face to face with the representatives of foriegn countries, countries who were assured privacy so they can say things like what do we do if Korea becomes unified? Without fear.
What Assange, an Australian ex-pat hacker, has accomplished is to make the US look stupid. We said people could share a secret with us and we wouldn't tell their friends, we then wrote that secret down in a diary and let too many people get access. Just because a paper says top secret doesn't mean it has a great conspiracy, sometimes it's just sensative information that you frankly don't need to know. Those of you with a job who are in management, do you tell your employees everything you discuss? Do you share with them who you are thinking about firing, or who did a good job and who didn't? No, because they don't need to know, in fact they don't have a right to know. So if some person video taped your meetings discussing Mr. Smith's inability to meet deadlines and weighing the pros and cons of getting rid of him, not only would management be annoyed, I imagine Mr. Smith would be hurt. However in the next meeting, which wasn't recorded, they decide to keep Mr. Smith, something he doesn't see so on and so forth.
Then there is the matter that yes, Julian Assange is wanted for, and has been wanted for, rape. It has not gotten much press until now, mostly because now he is back in the press with his interviews and releases. He has been under investigation for it for some time now, multiple vicitims had come forward. They believe there is now enoug evidence to issue a warrant, and the hero, the poor helpless hero, has had lawyers on staff dealing with this for over a year because yes he slept with these multiple women, but claims it was conensual, and while they told him to use a condom he said he didn't have any and they said ok who needs condoms let's do this.
The guy is a creep, has been a creep, he use to spend his time sending worms and virus' to you but now because he picks on big brother people think he is a hero. He is for the freedom of information, the disclosure of everything...well, except where he is, except who his sources are, except why he only targets the US, except why he fled Sweden after only a week being there yet didn't rape the girls, except that his previous source is going to jail while Julian hides somewhere in the UK, except that has made millions off of the interviews he sells to publications ect. ect.
It's not great folks, it's stupid. The US is stupid for allowing so many people access to classified information, Julian Assange is stupid for being shocked that raping women and releasing goverment secrets gets you trouble, and anyone who donates to him and is American is stupid because you are appluading the weaken of your country. Would you share a secret, do a business deal, discuss another country with someone who has some Australian idiot running around yelling "Oooo Cause who the US thinks is hot in Social Studies!"

The leaking of such things is the equivilant of confiding in your best friend that the boy who keeps asking you out is ugly in your opinion, and then that friend telling the boy. Rather than have him eventually move on without having to hear it, you decide to aggravate the issue and hurt someone in the process, you're quite right.
And a rat is still a rat (no furs be offended) and it's quite obvious someone wanted some limelight, and it's a bit overwhelming that of all things one could discover that it's nothing that helps the general populace, only hurts OUR countries standing.
Buck, out of curiosity, are you American? I happen to completely agree with you and appreciate this post of yours because I have thus far been unable to articulate what I think. While I'm all for a fair measure of transparency in the government I absolutely believe there are some things the general population doesn't need to know. I know it can be argued that that's where the government can take advantage and stage cover-ups on shady practices or whatever, but I heartily believe in some ignorance being bliss. Maybe I've got my head in the sand..?
