Specs you can get off the site, as for what you can and cant, there is no limit, i usualy build and relax.

You don't necessarily 'play' second life, you just hang out there. Its good if you wanna meet new people, be social, yiff. ^.^ It passes the time and could lead to meeting new communities you can hang out with in other areas besides SL.
You can pretty much build anything you have the skill to build, but as a newcommer you'll just want to mooch some game cash from some people and buy a furry avatar.
Just remember that it's a social environment, and not a game, although there are board games and casinos and other interesting things to do there, you just gotta find it!

Not so! Second life also contains many places where you can play games, almost of any genre. First person shooters, puzzles, whatever. Some have even grown so successful they were purchased by offline game companies and distributed to console.

I'm mentioned there were board games and the like. ^.^ I've even seen Mahjong tables, and bastardized Settlers of Catan tables. I remember there used to be a neat Laser Tag arena, but I haven't gone looking for one in a long while. But you kinda need a high end PC and a good stable connection to play in a mock FPS zone in SL. Theres also DarkLife, if that's still around. Which plays like a graphical MUD.

Funny.. Sidian was having this debate last week... I'm sure there's all kinds of advice on her journal now.

I think it's best to just know someone there before you get started so they can help you. To be honest I spend most of my time wandering aimlessly or attempting other adult activities which don't usually work out some of the time.

At the very least it's free to try, but there's a hell of a learning curve.
