well, the first thing you are going to need is the boot disk of your operating system and the serial key to activate it. after that, leave the disc in the drive bay and restart your computer. it should prompt you to, "press any key to boot from disk"

follow the prompts to format, then re-install your operating system.

make sure to get the drivers from the manufacturer web sites and save them on a disc or flash drive. also, be sure to back up everything before doing this, everything will be gone and starting from scratch after you reinstall.

if yu want to just whipe free space, you can use the tools in, "ccleaner", if you need to know your operating system or any of your hardware to look up the drivers, use the program, "speccy". both are pretty easy programs to use. ^^ i'll leave a link to there mother site below.

Damn... I have to find that disk. I know I still have it because I make a point to never throw away cds of any sort unless they are broken in half(which never happens, as I baby the hell out of my cds). I've just been through three moves since I got this computer, so finding it will be a challenge. :I

I can imagine that without that, I will need to spend about $200 getting a new OS disk, Mmmm?

Anyway, I am just restarting because the virus I got fucked my computer up good, and made it impossible to 'system restore', though I forced my computer into safe mode and used an administrator account to delete my main account and all of the files in it, I'm just worried that the virus is laying dormant somewhere on my hard drive.

...That sounds a little strange and probably paranoid, but I like to protect my shit :/ Speaking of which, know any good free antivirus hardware? I used to have one but I forget what it was called D:

well, spybot is a good one for mailware scans. i use avast free for my antivirus and it works pretty good. ^^ you just sign up for a free 1 year key and your good to go. :)

as for a new disc, you should be able to find a site to download and burn a new one. the serial key is probably on the case of your computer some where next to some bar codes. that's the expensive thing. to burn it, you use a program like ashampoo and burn it as a, "disc image" the file should start out as a, "iso" file to be burned that way. i'm gonna leave soon, but note me back if you need some help finding a disc. i'll need to know exactly what your operating system is though to help you find a new disc though. ^^;
