You could have easily sent her a note to ask her to take it down if it had bothered you that much. Personally, I think that would have been the more professional way to handle a business.

I understand. I grew up in a nail salon for 15 years of my life. Having worked 6 years of that... I know what it's like with both clients and yourself. Stress gets the better hand of you and all you can do is bite it down and hold out until you get the chance to release.

When I commission, I try to do it in enough advance time to allow for things beyond the artist's control.

No, she sent the money a few weeks ago, but I've had other commissions from before she showed interest in commissioning me.

Nope, she just sent me this today, exactly as it's quoted. I said "I honestly don't think I can make that deadline because of other commissions and the holidays are really hectic for me". and she hasn't replied yet.

If this person wanted it before Christmas, he/she should've noted you about the commission like.. months in advance. Mostly because most artists are a little slower at dishing out art. Cuz..you know life happens.
This person should have done their homework first, and shouldnt push the "I NEED IT NAO" card. Giving you a month or two for a 6 character commission would've been better.
Refunds suck for everyone, so I say explain your situation and try to work on it, theres still a few more days left before Christmas, maybe if you can just sketch a few of the characters it'll be better.

And psshh.. no one reads the AUP anymore. If I could get a quarter for every stupid lousy toy collection I saw on this site, I'd..I'd buy a car.

A six character picture would take me at LEAST a week, working non-stop during my work hours. It isn't fair to impose a deadline that's 2 weeks away where there was no deadline before. I understand her panic, but it isn't fair to impose that deadline on you. I would offer to mail her a CD with the art on it if you can't make the deadline -- if she doesn't want it, then it sounds like she just has buyer's remorse and is trying to weasel a refund out of you because she's suddenly needing that money.

It's not YOUR fault she's moving where there is no internet. If you can't offer a refund I say she can either find a way to check the internet [hello, libraries and friends-with-internet!] or, offer you a little more cash to send it on a disk in the mail, or something. She can't just abruptly throw in some more rules because that's what's convenient to her.

To be perfectly honest I get a weird vibe off of it, like maybe it isn't true. And if it is, girl could use some lessons in manners... like, I don't know, INQUIRING POLITELY instead of demanding?

wow people need a life. anyways if i had mor money id give it to her but as it is im barely able to make rent and eat. as for the deadline she the only one having a problem with it and i already said if she needs more time she couldave said so like everyone else who got the damned email. i dont mind i just would like an update hell i even sent her an email asking how things are going and never got a reply. granted everyone has a rather busy irl and i can be extremely patient and flexible with time so instead of making a big fucking scene she couldave just said i need more time and i woulda said ok specially how kind she was with the money for the amount of characters in it but if she would like to just send the money back i wont bame her im getting a new debit card in feb. i dont need the money back i actually want the picture rather badly i like the art work from the artist anyways. if i needed money that badly id ask for refunds for the more expensive ones ive commissioned like th 70$ i have being commissioned. as for my email and being "rude" to the artist i am truely sorry just all i ask is an update every so often because sometimes i dont get the journals or they get deleted before i can see them if theres a journal i usually check the progress from there like ive been doing for an icon.
