music meme & my trip in brief

General
Music is VERY important.
most of you know this already, but i fugured what's the harm i saying?
1) List your favorite three music genres:
metal (the rare, good kind)
rock (the rare, good kind)
experimental/alternative/etc.
2) Give a list up to ten of your current favorite artists
Nine Inch Nails
Tool
Melvins
Kyuss (Sky Valley and Circus Leaves Town)
Marilyn Manson (portrait - antichrist)
Mike Patton (esp. Bungle and Fantomas)
Pixies
Pigface (earlier works)
Radiohead
old blues and folk music
3) List up to 5 genres you dislike/hate
pop
smooth jazz
bad metal
bad rock
motivational/the stuff they play at Kinko's
4) Why?
vvolfen and AD summed this portion up nicely. Though, on a personal note, smooth jazz makes me uncomfortable and nauseous. it's true, i become physically ill in the process of listening to that shit.
5) Name 3 artists from despised genres.
wouldn't know the band names. i try not to think about it much.
6) Are you a Mainstream Sheep/Herd Person, Undergroundist or somewhere between the two?
i'm not sure how to answer this question. i mean... i listen to Alice in Chains and bands that are/once were played on the radio.
7) How many PHYSICAL CDs do you own?
i've got about 50 or so in my room. others i've entrusted to my brother who is super organized, so everything is alphabetical and safe.
8) Where do you purchase your music primarily?
Amoeba

Hello all !!!
Baja was awesome. the location was a desert island in Magdalena Bay (whale breeding grounds in winter). it's a surf spot. Tent-equiped camp sites, shower with a gallon jug, small staff of locals and a chef. i tried to surf but failed. The ocean doesn't like me very much, save for tide pools. Tide pools kick ass. the island itself is all cliff & rock, no beach whatsoever. & there's a kind of mountain in the middle, which i climbed. all the plants look dead but aren't. scattered by the millions throughout the island are old shell parts and chiton plates, way up on these cliffs and petering out toward the mountain's slope. Lots of bones too... and jackrabbits. those fuckers are huge.
Aparently the fishing there is really good too (Ahi, Yellowtail, Skipjack, and Halibut, to name a few). i didn't fish tho. just ate the resulting bounty.every so often there'd be stingrays leaping out of the water in the distance. sometimes 2, sometimes 15. three feet in the air and flapping wildly, coming down with a thick slap. guess they were feeding.
We went shell-collecting and kayaking through mangroves and played Yahtzee and had stomach problems and it was really fun to get away for a bit.
