Garth Brooks Live

"Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them."
-William Shakespeare
Last night, I got the chance to go to a Garth Brooks concert, the first one he’s done in years (other than Vegas shows) since he temporarily retired. Though I’m more an alternate rock fan (as my profile says), country isn’t bad either. Besides, it was a chance of a lifetime for me for the cost of $35. Seemed kinda silly to turn it down.
It…was…awesome.
We had pretty good seats, all things considered, and the show was just a blast. Heck, most of the crowd could sing the songs too, and did on several occasions without Garth. Of course, it didn’t hurt that among country music artists, I really like a fair amount of Garth Brooks’ songs. It was a really well done show, and Garth sounds great live. Even my brother, who’s been to several concerts, says it’s the best indoor arena concert he’s been too, and I’ll defer to his greater knowledge. Like I said though, I thought it was an awesome show. I am so glad I went.
There were nine sold out shows, with all proceeds going toward flood relief from the Nashville flood earlier in the year. The concerts themselves generated $5 million for flood relief, and brought in an estimate $15 million in income to the city. Feels good being a contributor to that, especially since my brother lives in Nashville, whom I’m currently visiting for the holidays. Heck, on Christmas we’re going to have a holiday goose (that my dad decided to shoot in our yard).
And on that note, happy holidays everyone, and have a happy new year.
