Planning ahead to a novel

I've been wanting to write a novel for a long time and it's only recently that I've started to grow in encouragement enough to seriously consider the idea. The company that distributes Different Worlds, Different Skins also has a considerable list of writers they support. I'd like to be one of them by December 2011.
Still, I'm seven days away from submitting a work to Bewere the Night and thank God, I've got a great idea already in motion (though I had to go through two completely versions before this one).
I'm inspiring myself by listening to old game music:
