Annoying Feet: The Plight of a Modern Era
18 years ago
This might be kind of weird, but... My feet. All day today. I keep seeing them out of the corner of my eye and it bugs the living shit out of me. I actually messed up on someone's sandwich at work today because I was distracted by my feet. Even now. I'm sitting. I see my knees and my feet. I had to put a blanket over them, even though it's about 80 something out right now and humid. I can't focus on anything because of them.
This is a problem I used to have a few years ago, but it was never so bad that it got in the way of productivity. My feet would bug me for about a half an hour, then I'd forget that they're there and get on with whatever they're doing. Now it's something that's constant. It's gotten to the point where I have to hide them when I'm working, and I have to look up when I'm walking. It's driving me freaking insane. I can't concentrate on anything anymore.
I'm wondering, is this a problem like what anyone else has ever faced? I really don't know what to do, this shit is driving me crazy. I'm hoping it's just something that just happened today, and won't continue. Maybe I didn't sleep well or something. Hopefully I'll be able to get on with my life tomorrow. Stupid feet.

I don't think it'd be too much of a problem if it's that rare of an occurrence. It doesn't sound like OCD, if that's what you're getting at.

If it's anything I think it would be ADD. I'm not sure if the rarity would have anything to do with how bad it is though. However, today it was worse at times (shoulders as well as feet) but it only happened occasionally, so I hope it's a sign that I'm starting to get over it.

I used to have this thing where if I rubbed my hand along the surface of something I had to do it backwards as well, once forward and once backwards, and I couldn't stop it. I finaly had to start rubbing things and running away so my hand would stop it. Maybe you just have to sit and look at your feet for a while, so it's nothing new?

I had something like that. If I did something to the left, I'd have to do it to the right too, and vise versa. Same with clockwise and counterclockwise movements. I've outgrown that as far as I know, though it's hard to say since sometimes stuff like that is unconscious. I do still occasionally find myself subtly leaning away from driveways and mailboxes when I'm driving. I've been doing that since before I was driving, I think. I don't think the events are similar to what's been going on with me lately though. It's more like something that's always been there suddenly annoys the shit out of you for no reason. I'm thinking maybe I just shouldn't talk about it. I was thinking that maybe I'm noticing it more because I'm thinking about it.
