So, anyone get far into it? How customizable are the cars? Anything other than "kewl spoilers" and different colors of factory paint jobs?

Despite what Challenger says it's pretty damn good, with all the normal complaints you would expect from a game that does take up a ton of usable space already. Once you can get past all that and find out how good the game can be it's a time killer and lots of fun. Honestly GT5 isn't for someone impatient and worried about loading times, simply because of the endurance races. You have the 24 hours of Lemans and Nurburgring as the final endo races. And the Indy 500.
The Bspec is rather annoying because the drivers all follow the driving line and get tired forcing you to keep upping their pace and irritating them into making mistakes. Even with a car that is 10 seconds faster a lap than the fastest opponent they slow down so badly.
The cars themselves. 200 premium cars that are on levels of customization. With body kits and wheels, and 17 of those can be race modified with your own paint of choice and numbers, including the 69 Camaro and 70 Challenger.
The other cars all you can do is put wings on them and repaint them with the colors that you receive from buying or winning cars.
GT6 whenever it comes out is going to be a huge improvement over 5, but considering 5 is the first one on the PS3 format there are obviously going to be annoyances.
And strangely enough the biggest money is in the American racecar championship. 98,000 a race. The first race is 5 laps on the Indy oval. 98,000 every four minutes compared to even the Endurance 200 mile Laguna Seca which only gets you 190,000 for 2 1/2 hours and non sports Lexus concept car.
Even the dreamcar challenge first race is 10 laps around Indy and only gets you 73,000.
I'm still waiting to get to level 28 to run the Indy 500 but that again would probably be a couple hours and only a couple hundred thousand.
The more I play it the more I realize it shouldn't be this hard or this repetitive to get what you need to finish it. Then of course there's the B-spec which frustrated me into a headache last night when my best driver let the Corvette Gran sport beat my fully race modded ZO6 on the Daytona road course. The very same car that I put 8 seconds on all the other American race cars at Indy myself with only 5 laps to do it.
There are definitely some major issues to be worked out for the sixth edition whenever they decide work on it.
