What ever happened to...?
15 years ago
General
This my first journal entry in a LONG time about Furry Art, and my first EVER that concerns other artists.
Specifically, some of my favorite artists that were really popular for a time, but sort of faded away --- or outright disappeared from the Furry Art scene.
Does anyone know what became of these artists?
Rommel Karlo Ignacio
A comic by Rommel Karlo Ignacio was featured in an issue of SFA's "New Horizons", which was the comic book that got me hooked on Furry Art. His artwork is indescribably awesome, but as much as I'd like to show it to you, it's not on the 'net.
Legend has it that Ignacio ---who hails from the Philippines --- has moved back to start a new life, and that he's now a Graphic Designer.
Bummer.
El Muzzle Rover
Also known as "EMR", this Japanese Furry Artist drew some of the most amazing artwork ever to grace the fandom.
A small sample can be seen here in his VCL Gallery, which hasn't been updated since 1999(!);

I can't find ANY info on this guy at all, much less why he disappeared from the spotlight...
Mike Sagara
This guy was one of the most prominent and famous Furry Artists of the 1980s, and drew Furry Art and Comics into the 1990s. His best-known works are probably "Hey Neeters!", and "Tank Vixens", and he also drew the first issues of "Shanda the Panda".
Supposedly he was "back" in 2007, and still works as a freelance artist and graphic designer, but I've seen no evidence of this from recent years.
Gan Metaru
Also known as "Geanbear", Gan Metaru is the creator of the "Fantastic Panic" comic book series, and has drawn some astonishingly-realistic Furry Art in Radio Comix's "Hit The Beach".
I can't seem to find any web galleries of his artwork, and lately, he seems to have virtually disappeared from the scene.
Squid!
It seems Squid! is one of those "Fly By Night" artists who puts out some amazing artwork for a while, then just vanishes.
Some of her work from up to 2004 can be seen on her VCL Gallery: http://us.vclart.net/vcl/Artists/squid!/
Terry "Mouse" Sender
Sender was one of those big-name 1990s Furry Artists who seems to have just disappeared from the scene in recent years.
The only gallery of his work that I could find on the 'net was a VCL Gallery, that hasn't been updated since 1999;

NOT a good sign.
Troy D. Packrat
He's not so much a Furry "Artist", as much as an AWESOME resource on everything Anthro.
Check out his site and see what I mean;

Unfortunately, as you can see, his page hasn't been touched since 2003.
I have no idea if these people are still involved with the Furry Community, or even if they're still alive. Do any of YOU, by chance, know what became of them?
