In an sci-fi GURPS game I played with my friends a long time back, we had this running gag about a 'tentacle meatball' living in the fridge. It would guard its food every time we tried to get any leftovers. And apparently had the intelligence to rule the world if it could ever find a way to make a refrigerated robot suit to escape the fridge and begin its world conquest.

'alas' is an exclamation for something bad/negative, as in "alas I have lost my wallet". Just FYI.
