Story Characters

You ever use a shared universe with seemingly very different things going on but does take place using same characters and such? I've got some ideas for stories and I think it'd be kinda nifty to use some characters as if in their off-time they're off doing some other stuff.
Example - one of the lion judges that made an appearance in my yiff story (in my scraps section) I am thinking about including in a more serious vore story I've been fleshing out. Another is a fictional furry band I've been thinking of having make in an appearance in a number of widely different stories.
Just a random thought, I've always kinda found nifty characters that cross over - whether ones that make appearances in different books by same or different authors, comic book characters that have a diverse history rather than mired in one series and one interpretation, all that jazz basically.
So I was just wondering how many other people do that or have thought about doing that?

But anyways, specifically that vore story I mentioned above is one I think I could have 'furry' characters come and go from other stories; from what I've worked out in my head, because of course I'm too lazy even to work it out on paper and therefore realize it may not work out as I think it will, anyways I think I'll like the feel of it and just need to break this apathetic shell and get moving on it.
And on the subject of two dimensional characters, I think it's fine if your characters in your short stories come off as lacking a little depth, though they are probably not as lacking as you think.
And yes, write more! Though I should probably take the same advice...
