News and a serious request.

First, because it happened shortly after my previous entry and wasn't mentioned there, Journey to Fire's Keep is now available as an electronic book through my website, http://pihost.us/~baphijmm for one dollar. Completely typeset by yours truly to avoid any possibility of a lawsuit (because technically the publishers typeset the paperback) and also to make it more visually appealing. It is in .pdf format, which I understand most e-book readers can handle just fine.
Second, I have, as the title suggests, a serious request. A number of things have happened in the past month, including several serious job offers from the San Francisco Bay area. I do presently have a way to get there; however, once there, I do not have a place to stay or means to pay. If anyone, anyone at all, would be willing to let me crash on their floor or couch for what I'd hope would be no more than a month, just to let me get on my feet out there, please let me know. It would be relatively soon (the sooner the better, because then I could additionally visit FC! As a complete bum, but still. >_>; ), so... yeah. I would/should be able to feed myself, so that won't be an issue at all. We could discuss alternate or deferred payments if so desired. Send me a note or reply to this journal if you can help.

I'm asking the dragon I'm at FC with; if he's OK with it, we can spare you a key to our hotel room, which I have 12-18 January, and about a 1/4 mile from FC. Other than that though, that's all I can do.

That would be fantastic if possible; at the very least, it would give me something until the first interview. Now, that having been said, as things are panning out it's becoming more likely I will be traveling with my cat. I am unsure whether or not this would pose a problem, with either the hotel, yourself, or your roommate. He's a shy cat though.

Nah, the $20 is the publisher screwing me. The $1 is entirely my own set price. (Though I may up it, because Paypal takes a dollar for every three made. :/ )

Should charge at least $5, or more depending on the length of the book. Consider all the time and effort you put into writing it, and how much return you are getting for that time invested. Compare it with the local minimum wage, and ensure you're getting AT LEAST that much for it.

There is a thing about value. If people who look at it thinks its worth a dollar, and they see other books that are selling in the same format for, say six dollars; they're more likely to buy the higher book because they THINK its worth more, because its higher-priced. When I first set up my debut album up for sale, I had it going for $4.99 and didn't sell squat. With no really effective marketing, I upped the price to $9.99 and sold a bunch. Maybe about 50 in the first year (so, not screaming fast, average 1 per week), and overall, I think I'm up to 700-ish sold now.

That seems counter-intuitive to me, but I suppose it's worth trying. Additionally, where were you selling these albums? I cannot distribute the e-book through otherwise traditional means because of its format; Amazon hates typography, and I've not seen an option to try anywhere else that doesn't involve invoking the paperback publisher. I get the feeling that a large part of the problem is that I'm selling it on a personal site with otherwise no affiliation with anything. ^^;

http://peaceworkmusic.net/0501/0501.htm is my favorite place; though it sells sometimes through iTunes, Amazon and CD Baby. Also, you might be able to make a page on Facebook for your book, and things like that.
