Thoughts on Future Events
So! Was contemplating bringing a bunch of books with me to RainFurrest this year, setting up a sort of signing event mostly for fun. Contacted the con staff, who have stated they'd be more than willing to work with me to set up the event; however, for legal reasons, I cannot sell books there unless I have a table in the dealer room or Artist Alley, and unfortunately, these are all already spoken for. Now, the possibility does exist that, if someone were to be willing to share, I could set things up for sale in the dealer room, but admittedly that's kind of a slim chance. (Unless anyone reading this happens to have a dealer table and wouldn't mind sharing with an author~?)
That having been said, they are still willing to work with me to set up the event; I just can't do any selling there.
Now, I've also been looking at other potential outlets; I'm strongly considering setting up an Amazon Giveaway for the book, for example. I've also since been contacted by the press that published my book, as someone within the upper management actually read the book and apparently greatly enjoyed it, wishing to recommend it to publishers and investors, as well as to send it out for professional review. (As I still own all rights to the book, they had to ask my permission before going ahead and doing such. Naturally, I agreed.) Finally, I've also been looking at the very real possibility of setting up a book signing event here in southern New Mexico, possibly at either the local bookstore in Cloudcroft and/or the Hastings in Alamogordo (and naturally expanding to other potential venues if these go well).
But here's where I was ultimately going with this post: If I do end up holding a signing event or some such at RF this year, because I most likely would not be able to sell copies of the book at the venue, you'll have to bring your own copy in order for me to sign it. But! I am working towards more activities and events for which obtaining a paperback copy of my book will be at least somewhat easier. So keep an eye out! I'll certainly be advertising these events when/if they do come up. :3
