Congresswoman Gabriel Giffords (D-AZ) has been shot. Though it has not been confirmed whether the attack was politically motivated, given the current narrative I see no reason why it would not have been. This came shortly after bombs were sent to the governor of Maryland and DC.
Even if it wasn't, it's still a tragedy. When are we going to learn that our actions have consequences? When are we going to learn that violence is not the answer? This is a sad day, and it is very shameful that anyone would do such a thing.
Let's hope the person(s) responsible is punished to the fullest extent of the law. People need to put politics aside and condemn such acts.

I don't know which news agency has the right of it, but I'm hoping that she did indeed survive if for no other reason to spite her attacker. If only every other victim of that rampage could do the same.
Now the justice system will have its due, and he will be punished as severely as possible.
