I know of a couple really well done, high quality, short, interview-themed videos about the fandom. Only problem is that they're directed and filmed by people in the fandom.

Thats what I mean, that documentary that came out was awesome.. but it was by someone in the fandom.

People who arent in the fandom usually dont watch that stuff and the stuff on the TV.

Not lies. Just a secular view on the worst parts of the fandom. To be quite honest, the things they focus on in the media are the things that make up a great deal of the furry fandom, but what little good is left are the things that keep me here.

I find it mildly amusing that most of these furries who end up on prime time TV shows are furries that you've never even heard of before. Also, these people generally are not the best repentation of the fandom. When is the documentary you are in airing?

Or in this case, I'm sure (just like all the other furs who wanted their 15 minutes) this'll be more "flame" than "fame".

Selling out the fandom for money and "15 minutes of fame"...

At least she's got the right idea to leave the fandom. She'd be bombed with hate after people read that if she stayed.

Personally, I'm not optimistic. They wouldn't have filmed the episode if they didn't intend to make it look like she was addicted to something. And that's very likely to make us look bad. Again.

I mean, yeah, there have been a few news media articles about us that weren't insulting. But the majority of Furry coverage, especially on TV, have either been "Fur And Loathing" or Chewfox. Individual fans have got to avoid the media, that's all there is to it!

you can almost feel the fakey-ness in her when she says she'll go see the psychiatrist. Also I love the disclaimer "Do not attempt, can be dangerous" I think we'd better all stop, ya know with the whole making people smile for wearing costumes thing, we all oughta knock it off *rolls eyes*

I realize this journal (and the show episode) are old news...but the outpouring of hate towards this individual is unacceptable. Are we talking about  fennecfur here?? She is one of the sweetest people I know, and she'd NEVER sell out the fandom for something like this...like many others, she had no idea what she was getting into. Bless her heart...

I asked dozens of questions over the phone to the producer (mike) of Fanboy Confessionals. I did not want to be apart of a show that flipped everything I said and made us look terrible. I also had final say on whether or not I wanted my face to be on the show before it aired.

I'm sure Fennecfur is a grand gal, but asking just a few questions to the producer or any member of staff would have opened ones eyes to the true nature of the show. That and the first thing anyone said to me was their names and the title of the show. I know legally (as I signed many documents for the show) she would have known at the very least the title of the show before being asked to take part. And with the title being "My Strange Addiction" most would be leery of the subject matter for any episode.
